At least for this reason, it will be better than S8 and G5. DOA mission!

I'm not all that impressed by the size of this battery. Given that LG is rumored to be using last year soc..I was expecting a battery close to or more than 4000mAh to really set this phone apart or on part with all the top new upcoming flagships. I am more and more looking to see how these devices compare to late last year release Mate 9 which I still consider to be a beast of a phone. Will good to see a serious comparison between the mate 9, the LG G6, Galaxy S8+ and maybe HTC 11. The problem is the different time frame of the various releases. Hope GSM Arena can compare these phones by April-May depending on those that are out.

I want a 4000-5000 mah battery on that device.

If the display is LCD (again) then we should expect less battery life when compared even with the Galaxy Note 5 regardless if it will have bigger battery

        For example:

        Galaxy Note 5: 5.7" SAMOLED, 3000 mAh = 85 hours endurance

        Huawei Mate 9: 5.9" IPS LCD, 4000 mAh = 82 hours endurance

Removable battery is the reason I've been going with LG since the g4 (I have the v20 now and I love it). I'm out of the house 17 hours a day with no way to charge. Now I'll have to look @ other phones and booster packs 😭.

Based on current draw measurements, I calculate it will be between 3,500mAh and 3,900mAh.

AnonD-510098, 14 Feb 2017Man, thats very low size, under 3500mah is a no go for 2017... moreSamsung Galaxy S8 probably will come with the same 3000mAh (like the Galaxy S7) and people will buy it anyway and you said it's a no go. LOL

So it will be 3201 mAh :)

Joking aside, it's a good size if the phone is very compact. I was hoping for 3500 mAh, but I guess I was expecting too much.

They will need it if they go with the 821. 14nm vs 10nm AND old Kryo vs A73 "Kryo" Will more than cover the difference of having a much smaller battery but going with the 835. Samsung can put a 2500mAh battery and still outlast G6 with a 3200mAh battery where it matters due to 835 and their OLED tech. Then the only thing LG will get is maybe longer talk times.

                        "more than 3,200mAh"
                        -3,200.001mAh I guess

Not much for a 5.7" QHD+ LCD. But I was expecting little more than 3000mah considering the size of G6 so this battery is not any less than my expectations . I think it will be a little taller and narrower xperia x performance size.

on the matter of battery capacity the s7 edge has a bigger capacity battery than what was used for the note 7 the issue there was a poorly designed note 7 from Samsung in my opinion Samsung rushed the development cycle and skimped on quality control hence the reported faults and consequential discontinuation of the note 7. even other oems and Samsung have designed higher capacity batteries which are safe considering that they thoroughly tested and checked the component and other internals that could a device to be discontinued. somethings just cant be cheated hence now sammy aint takin chances and are cautious with the development of thier s8 model coz if matters arise from this s8 line thier smartphone business would loose all credibility.

The original LG GFLEX had a 3,500 mah battery in it. It lasted all day and night.

AnonD-642242, 14 Feb 2017And before the stupid "DOA" comments arise, If LG takes a l... moreG2 had excellent battery life due to the super optimized SD 800 chip as well as a really power efficient 1080p display.

Since G6 is using SD 821 which is not so great at power management, and add the 5.7" QHD screen, you can't expect amazing battery life.

There's only so much software can do. If an app goes rogue and runs 100% CPU load, the power consumption will depend on the chip, not the software. Software can only manage the background battery consumption and the clock scaling, but even that is pretty standard nowadays.

All SD 820 phones perform about the same with similar battery size, within a few percentages of course. I'm not saying 820/821 is super bad at battery consumption. It's not. But it's certainly not on par with Exynos or kirin chipsets. SD835 is said to be much better by Qualcomm.

Let's see how LG does. But if S8 has similar battery size and screen, it should have bigger battery. Then again, Samsung will put some measly 3000 mAh battery in S8 given their history.
