Nokia had been No.1 all these years, a kid company in mobile industry like Samsung and LG could reach in top levels where they are today because they gave customers what they want. Nokia on other hand has been feeding their customers what Nokia liked. You see, here is the downfall. Samsung today had even got their own BADA OS. And then in 2008 from nowhere Android jumped into mobile industry and in less than 3 years has reached the position where Nokia looks no threat. So technology never sleeps, but Nokia slept and slept bad. Its payback time and Nokia even though wakes up is too late. Its too late...

the new WP will be a blend of symbian and WP7,It will include all those features that incorporates Symbian but with smoothness that will surpass todays OSs, but the matter of importance will be how consumers percieve these changes and how Nokia MS position them. Lets hope for the best....

Next year Android and iOS will be extremely well established, it'll be game over for any competitor because history has shown that most technology market places only support two main players..

Only time will tell whether it has been fruitful decision or not for Nokia to come out with WP as their OS. The only edge they have is the complete right to alter the OS their way as per Elop's statement.
Despite me being a more than decade old user of Nokia, i personally believe Android would have been a better decision. Nokia is yet to remain constructively more solid but after the E-72, i am bidding Nokia farewell good bye, which is coming with a deep sorrow and regret.
My move would either be an Iphone 4 or Android.

The only Nokia I'm buying is a Symbian Nokia, right now the UI is bad but functionality is there.
However my question is, they said they'd make big short term investments into Symbian, improve it and then switch to WP7, so I ask, if they improve Symbian, why would I want another OS?
WP7 just does not appeal to me, it looks too bland, too simple, I don't like tile interface, Android and Symbian's widget homescreens is much better. And it's not only I that does not like it, WP7 phones sell terribly, I've never seen anybody with a WP7 phone.
But don't worry, once their sales plummet and plummet, they'll crawl back to Symbian.

2) No Bluetooth file transfers
3) No USB mass storage mode
4) Limited third-party apps availability
5) No Flash support
in the browser
6) No video calls
7) Music player lacks equalizer presets
8) No multitasking
9) No copy/paste
10) No DivX/XviD video support

I hope all disadvantages i saw in previous wp7 phone (like htc hd7)
such as no multitasking, no copy-paste, etc. Shud be integrated as soon as possible in wp7 nokia phones ,........
And for the ANDROID FANS Surely android is ten times better than symbian .......but wp7(after being totally modified by Nokia) will be 10 times better than android .............. And u all also will accept it
And we all would DUMP ANDROID AND GO for WP7 similarly as we dumped symbian for android........
GUD LUCK NOKIA.........

This is off topic, but Mr. Elop loves to use his hand when he's talking. I must say, he does speak well. The only thing that distracts me is that pinky ring, lol! :O)

I'll buy a Nokia again if they put the features of Symbian to Windows Phone 7 OS. I recently switched to Android and I can say, Symbian still has the complete functionality out of the box. No need to download applications if you need something. The things that I like better with Android is the consistent animations all throughout the interface, the bubble type message conversation format, which is very important when replying to a text message, the wide range of available applications, the Live wallpapers. That's it, believe it or not. If Nokia can bring this to Symbian then it would be awesome.

I'm a Nokia fan. But just last week, my 5800's touchscreen broke down. Then I heard about this big announcement about Windows Phone 7 OS. When I heard about that, I bought an Android phone the next day.
