It better not lag. I suspect it will be using 680 Mhz on the mid end phones with 512 ram and get rid of the Metro UI or at least make it minimal. I don't like wp7's square widgets on the front.

phoneaddict, 21 Feb 2011I am wondering what good will STEPHEN ELOP do for Nokia? If... moreTons of "high flying" punks like him were in for a contracted terms. Once expired, he packed and off with bonuses leaving the ship and the crews sink.

Basically from this article, I read "The lower prices will get Symbian fans to switch to wp7". A few points:
1. It won't get Symbian fans to switch
2. Most Symbian fans are not in the USA and dont like USA products (I'm American and know that)
3. If anything, this will cause symbian fans to switch to Either Meego once released or Android due to the similarity of the two OS'es.
4. Nobody wants WP7, WM left a VERY BAD taste with people. Even though WP7 is different, it's still windows and therefore related to Microsoft who made WM which left a VERY BAD taste with people.
5. For a CEO to try to force their company's fanbase to get a new OS is not good. First, they'll alienate people, Secondly, they're going to lose a huge amount of fans that don't want WP7, Third, it's closed source like apple so whatever the company says goes, Fourth, lower prices equals lower tech even though WP7 requirements are pretty steep (Why I dont know. What do you need 1GHz for scrolling tabs and a single color background for? You can even get a Gradient or Fill effect for crying out loud!)
For a CEO to not know the company's fanbase is a shame.

I am wondering what good will STEPHEN ELOP do for Nokia? If he did well in Microsoft, why did he leave? Is he also one of the shareholder at Nokia? Lets face it, where were STEPHEN ELOP when WM6, WM6.5 and now WP7 were trying to make a name in the market as the most outstanding OS? Well he was never around. I think he is one of the executive appointed as business development manager where he can only propose to the management that such and such company can manufacture phones. In real, he doesn't know anything about manufacturing phones. Which leaves him not having full experiences.
And now, he is leading Nokia on what basis? Mark my word, he won't be long in NOKIA. From BIO I read about him, he switch jobs very often. He will look for other jobs when he thinks he fails in NOKIA.
Now he is talking about slashing WINDOWS PHONE price in Nokia. As far as I know NOKIA phones are one of the most affordable phones in the planet. I wonder what LG or HTC will say about WP phone price slashing.

Anonymous, 21 Feb 2011Nokia will release wp7 phones with wp7.5"mango" w... moreThat will definitely be welcomed. Plus, Nokia can use all its technologies from their various department to support the WP7 device. E.g. Using a 4inch CBD AMOLED display, N8 camera module with Xenon, outstanding GPS and all the while maintaining a good body architecture. As you said, it might really be the first dual-core WP7 handset, probably also the first to support front-facing camera video calling.
The possibilities are endless. All nokia needs to do is to put in high-end hardware and Microsoft will handle the rest. The option to customize the wallpaper is definitely welcomed.

I am inclined to get a Nokia phone, and unless they put true multitasking on their Windows 7 phones, I'll never consider getting one.

AnonD-252, 21 Feb 2011WP7 on Nokia outdated hardware with their slow cpu and only... moreIn case you didn't know, Microsoft specifies a minimum CPU of at least 1 Ghz. While the article didn't explicitly say this, it did mention Microsoft's requirements. You obviously don't know what you are talking about.
I believe Nokia's strategy will be to use economy of scale and skimping on parts that Microsoft does not enforce (such as the screen) to push down prices.
Symbian will most likely still survive in the form of S40 for really low end phones. Well, that's wher

This prove that Nokia is, fast, abandoning Symbian, because if Nokia were not to abandon Symbian then there would be no reason for Symbian-users to change to cheap WP7 phones made by Nokia.

I'm already in a "Droid Land"... symbian was the only thing stoping me from switching - and now it's destined to die a slow death. WP is a no-go for me (no matter how much you push down those prices :P).
