nice to see a proper flagship level chip in Pinecone V970 unlike what mediatek has to offer.

AnonD-393912, 22 Feb 2017Samsung own the 10nm chip factory, hence produced by samsun... moreTheir screens are not really custom and their oled displays should almost for sure come from samsung

Anonymous, 22 Feb 2017but real life performance for sd 835 is not available yet. ... moreAnd even in that benchmark it is not tempted by the a10 let alone the a9. As well as way more complex and complete of a true SoC.

Anonymous, 22 Feb 2017Cores aren't... ok, there is no sense in talking, everybody... moreOh my good. You're all just the same. As if specs, mega pixels, clock rates, and core count account for nothing when in fact they are directly half the battle

Wow! Straight for blood.
Though they really really should have opted for no more than 20nm if not 16nm on the 670.
Though in the end I think we have enough different chip makers

AnonD-450893, 22 Feb 2017It is not "trumped" at all by A10 in real-world scenarios. ... morebut real life performance for sd 835 is not available yet. So geekbench is the only available metric. Even if benchmark is not equal to real life preformance, its pretty unconvincing to predict that a soc that sucks at benchmark tests will have great real life performance.

2017 will be chipset war for Smartphone manufacturer. They learn what happen to LG with their G6. Apple, huawei & now xiaomi have their own chips to power their smartphone. LG,sony late to react. n Let's see what happen with Nokia/hmd 😂

Anonymous, 22 Feb 2017Cores aren't... ok, there is no sense in talking, everybody... moreActually do matter. Look at the Exynos that having more cores, has more performance.
Xiaomi also was supposed to use the Mali 880 MP4 for their Pinecone V670.
That would put on Snapdragon 808/650 GPU levels.
And they would be smashing the Snapdragon 625 and 635 and the Helio P20 hard.

All things considered all that a processor has to do is run a mobile efficiently not propel a rocket to Mars.

Nice, the Pinecone V970 will be like Huawai Kirin 960, but with better GPU Mali-G71 MP12 vs MP8 on Kirin, plus 10nm vs 16nm. Nice!!

Anonymous, 22 Feb 2017Snapdragon 835 is already trumped by apple's A10 if not A9. It is not "trumped" at all by A10 in real-world scenarios. A chipset does not only mean raw CPU power as you Apple fanboys tend to believe. It contains much more. And even speed is not equal to CPU power. Benchmark apps that test all the components will show that too (for example Antutu).
