Well that is quite interesting. On the other hand, this probably will have little to no effect on Xiaomis global prevalence.

Uninspiring, but hopefully it will shrink costs of Xiaomi handsets and lets them Improve the hardware-software communication

              Really Xiaomi?

The Pinecone V970 is gorgeous, but the V670 only will have 2 GPU Cores?

That would be even worse than the Helio P10 or the Snapdragon 617! And that is a shame.

Androidloveralways, 22 Feb 2017Built by Samsung? Why are they even launching new processor... moreSamsung own the 10nm chip factory, hence produced by samsung. Samsung also produce most of the 835 chip.
In the same vein, Apple chips also produced by samsung, and apple use their custom lcd/oled screen who are produced by sharp.

Production relationships is more complex than that "brand a produced in factory a" as in reality "brand a use brand a, b, and c parts, while brand a parts is being produced in brand c factory, and the entire thing is assembled by brand d factories"

Nice! Pinecone 970 looks inspiring and seems like a good match for the excellent Kirin 960.

Built by Samsung? Why are they even launching new processor then? Just buy efficient Exynos processor and be happy.

Hmm powerful GPU compared to Mediatek.

Cortex A73 and G71 maybe nice and all but at the end of the day, we all know that the latest Exynos and Snapdragon 835 will take the top spots (only to be trumped by Apple's latest in September). Nevertheless, kudos to Xiaomi for taking the initiative to make their own chipsets, a step that will hopefully propel them towards better self-reliance and will ultimately make them an independent company like Samsung or Huawei.
