Anonymous, 24 Feb 2017One case once in a while vs about 50 cases a week. I think ... moreMaybe 50 cases overall, not in a week. Most of these were probably faked in order to sue samsung and ruin their reputation.

Anonymous, 24 Feb 2017I have tried to buy a second hand iphone from ebay or gumtr... moresurely the issue there is that apple don't allow licenced parts to be sold, so that is why you have to settle with the knock off. If Apple were open and encouraged people repairing their phones you wouldn't EVEN be able to buy the knock off batteries. Self repair is a good thing, don't let other people tell you otherwise.

I have tried to buy a second hand iphone from ebay or gumtree. Refurbished phones are just iphones with knockoff batteries. I always remove the screen to see what's inside. Screens and batteries are almost always fakes. I have replaced the battery of my 5s with a non-genuine battery that was advertised as genuine for 5 pounds. I got screen distortion. Put my previous original battery in no distortion.
I kind of agree with apple making repairing their phones illegal.

Anonymous, 24 Feb 2017One case once in a while vs about 50 cases a week. I think ... moreNice try Fanboy, Sony might lack in other areas but they will never put out bad quality products. I've used enough of Sony products to say this confidently. Stop protecting your brand and admit apple did a mistake here.

viveksubhash, 24 Feb 2017batteries have been swelling up and burning, smoking, explo... morebeing sealed has ALOT to do with it...sealed batteries have a set limit to expand when sealed (which they do normally up to 10% of their size). The restrictive nature in sealing them actually raises the chance of fires, because previously the battery was able to pop the back off, and continue to expand, or fall out. Now with sealed batteries this is no longer the case, increasing chances of puncture, and shield wearing, letting that lithium contact oxygen. Also it reduces the chance of pins separating, causing a consistent movement of electrons through the battery and continuing the swelling.

Anonymous, 24 Feb 2017What no one wants to admit is, that this has been an issue ... morebatteries have been swelling up and burning, smoking, exploding since a long time..being sealed has nothing to do with it..if anything sealed batteries have reduced cheap chinese knockoffs that cause dangerous electrical fires in the house..
