Anonymous, 28 Feb 2017Nope 4:3 is even older it was set in '73.. The thing is it ... moreA4 is 1.41:1, it's what Google pixel uses.
And since there are already borders (in the way of bezels), actually 3:2 screen is closer to the A4/A5 feel.

4:3 was only used by CRT screens, then was took over by websites and since 2010 almost all the websites have started leaving it behind

It's an obsolete aspect ratio that kills tablets' usability and is in part connected to their demise.

3:2 is best for reading (the whole screen is used with bezels playing the role of side borders) and 16:10 for movies (smallest black bars possible) without losing the ability to use in portrait.

4:3 is good for nothing, nobody supports it anymore.

we aren't on the same page as GSMArena hen it comes to Flagship definition! Why aren't they using latest chip, higher ram and at least real QHD screen? I will wait for another company to do so.

Apple back in 2010 did not expect how big movie watching would become on mobiles and that websites would move away from 4:3 so made that lethal mistake and have to live with it.

There is a reason why both Microsoft and Google use 3:2 ... it is the future (and the present).

I chuckle thinking someone calling 16:10 and then going to the one aspect ratio that kills media watching giving nothing back to the user (portrait mode is equally well used on 3:2 too).

You probably mean 16:10in which case I agree. As it can be used in portrait mode (although 3:2 is better) and it's excellent for media. 4:3 ones by comparis on are reaaally bad...

In a world starved of good flagship Android tablets, the Tab S3 will surely make a good splash. It's excellent in almost every way. It would have been perfect with 16:9 QHD screen (for media consumption) and a better autofocus selfie camera (for video conferencing). Maybe they could have made it IP68 with SD 835 but that's fine.

You break it easily, it no longer looks presentable, and you need to buy a new 700 EUR one.

                        king of tablet

why everything should be glass? glass back is very fragile and fingerprint magnet. Look at LG, samsung, HTC, everyone is using glass now. Only huawei and Sony left with metal. Metal is far better, it's strong and fingerprint free. What's more, nowadays glass are 2.5D. Hit it and it will break to pieces. Even this huge tablet is glass. Tablet should be more durable, not glass back. I can't imagine how many fingerprints after using this tablet a while.
Why glass? I guess it's just to make manufacturing process easier and cheaper, no need to think about antenna lines, and wireless charging. So lazy!

It's true that the tablet apps for social media suck for android, but that's only because apple pay a premium to those companies to only release tablets apps for ipad. The rest (news aggregators, media players, etc) do have proper tablet apps.

The only thing dumber than a glass back on a phone is a glass back on a tablet. That is a lot of surface area to knock against something and create cracks.

The soft touch back on the previous generation Galaxy Tabs was so nice and high quality feeling, while also being durable. Glass to me seems cheap and glitzy. And it will break--not if, but when.
