The Nokia 3310 is back, but it's not exactly a pretty sight

I kinda like it, I always use a 2nd phone so I will buy it in time (I had the original) many the ones that are making a fuss are a bunch of millenials who were born in the Smartphone era so I dont take their comments to heart. What I do say is that given the fact that many countries are phasing out 2G networks, a 3G connection would had opened more market share for them and personally I would have liked more color options like the original one.

As far as i can tell Nokia 3310 didn't have camera for one thing and under the back cover it was written " made in finland" these two contradict with the old 3310 back in the day

AnonD-647980, 26 Feb 2017It is cheap fon. Nokia 5 is ur solution.I agree with you, The Nokia 5 is probably what I would get. Honestly after seeing what's coming from LG and Huawei I just feel that these new Nokias are just some company using nostalgia to market uninspiring designs and performance. Samsung is miles ahead.

I don't expect the new 3310 to come to Australia, US and Singapore, where 2G networks are being phased out.
But it'll do the job for many around the world.

AnonD-270570, 26 Feb 2017I use to laugh at Nokia fans back then when it was famous a... morePoint 1: Yeah, Sony-Ericsson made some very good phones back in the day. Some of them were even better than Nokia phones, but they didn't have the marketing prowess to sell them as well as Nokia. That does not mean that Nokia phones were bad. For a guy that is supposedly well over 30, you show pretty juvenile "my brand is best, you brand sucks" black and white thinking.
The new 3310 is a retro feature phone. Somewhat overpriced, yes, but which part of "retro feature phone" you don't understand?

Every smartphone maker is using OPTICAL IMAGE STABLIZATION which was first introduced by Nokia in Lumia 920 even iPhone which is famous for great camera using this feature.
So you can't say that they are doing nothing some things are made for last forever it is one of them.
And in last will say they knows better than us.

I'd say it's not a bad modern reimagination of the 3310. I guess the new design will grow on us with time.

Sorry but the real Nokia is dead. I want to see more mobile advancements, not whatever this is. Nostalgia is for the weak.

That's not a modern 3310, that's just a regular 6310i in a cheaper shell.

The design is spot on. I don't know what people were expecting, a direct copy of the original? This is about as close you can get to the classic 3310/3330 design without using much smaller screen than modern 2.4".
The problem with this phone is that it's overpriced (I suppose that's retro premium) and lacks some modern features that even a feature phone should have these days, namely 3G connectivity. 2G networks are rapidly disappearing from many old, developed economies with high population density. Lack of 3G connectivity limits the appeal of this phone even as a basic, no frills feature phone. The other features are basically fine (especially if it was cheaper, although street prices will of course be lower), although I had hoped for exchangeable backs. I suppose implementing that would have cost too much.
