Photo of iPhone 5 screen shows larger diagonal, super thin bezel

01 March, 2011
Apple has been very consistent with the iPhone screen size - 3.5 inches and that's it. Of course, four iterations of equally-sized displays didn't discourage the bigger iPhone or iPhone nano rumors. The latest...

Proportion wise the middle one ( existing I phone 4 ) looks much better and unique .

judging from the lack of convergence of the lines that mark the top part of the mask (left of image), the top horizontal of the screen clear-window, the bottom horizontal of the screen clear-window and the bottom part of the mask (right of image), the mask is-n likely to be real, and a prototype so badly designed is out of the question.

looks uncomfortable to hold, your fingers are going to touch the screen everytime you hold it.

Maybe, just maybe a better design would be one with twin speakers and microphones (1 top and bottom) so it doesn't matter which way up your phone is, it would always be ready for use, the built in accelerometers would work out the phones orientation and automatically choose which mic/speaker to use. Then when the phone is in horizontal mode both speakers would work for video playback etc.

A bezel this thin won't be a good idea coz that increase the chances of touching the working screen with the holding hand quite significantly which on a multitouch screen is not a good idea .

since when did gsmarena allow comment rating ? thats nice !

i think apple should make both the design and let the people choose.

ohh they should never change the screen..!! and the size of iphone..!! now if the iphone will fall down the lcd would be damaged..!!

LCD WOULD BE DAMAGED IF IT FALLS DOWN..!!

Why dont Apple just put an all-screen with no bezels phone? Edge to edge. No phone company has done that. With Apple's minimalistic approach they would be doing that. Remove the single button below the screen, since it's not really useful nowadays.

This new iPhone 5 looks like a Samasung Galaxy S II copy. Can't apple come up with somthing original rather than a touch screen with big icons. If this thing can make calls without a deathgrip causing the signal to cut out I think Samsung should file...

When you hold the phone in your hands it will mess with the touchscreen giving you the wrong selection!

                                      ok, i made some calculations.
if i calculate the size of the screen exactly as the iphone 4's, then would result a 4.075 inches display, but that would mean making the button smaller AND the ear hole. since the ear hole and the button have the same length (11 mm), i doubt that apple would shrink them.
now, judging from the button's size, would result in a bigger phone... significantly bigger: approx 133mm/69mm resulting a 4.75 inch display.
so, with all these measurements, my verdict would be that the screen in the picture won't be used in the upcoming phone.

4" size screen is good without any changes on iPhone width.
