Here's the Samsung Galaxy S on Gingerbread, benchmarked

01 March, 2011
Our hands were itching to try the leaked Gingerbread update for the Samsung Galaxy S and to give it a spin to see what's what. The update doesn't bring anything spectacular in terms of looks; only the...

I sure hoped that they would have fixed the lag problem. But seeing the scores, I guess they didnt! Shame on Samsung to cripple such a good phone...

That score is awfully low. Does that mean that the lag fix that people usually apply to the Samsung devices using the Ryan OCLF mod hasn't been applied here? Isn't it just reformatting the file system and switching it to ext3 or something like that? That gives it a massive speed bump to nearly 2k points in quadrant. I am quite surprised why that lag fix is not done by Samsung from factory! Can anyone explain that to me?

I've had a Galaxy since it came out, and I have to say, credit where it's due - Samsung have really supported the Galaxy S well re: updates - Froyo didn't take too long, there's been another update after that further improving performance and now we're getting 2.3 (which I never thought we would) - it makes me want to support them and get the the Galaxy 2 when my contract runs out (unless there's something better out by the end of the year)... Either way - incredibly happy with Galaxy and Sammy - and that's after having HTC, Sonye, etc.
Anyone know if they'll make a Galaxy S2 with a keyboard, I'd love my next phone to have a slide out keyboard, but not compromise on performance (which Sony's and Motorola's "Pro" versions do)...

lol - my Desire HD with Revolution ROM and only slightly overclocked to 1.22GhZ (with 1.5 numbers would be better...) runs over 2800. My wife owns the Galaxy S and it is soooo laggy compared to DHD (even with lagfix).

998 on quadrant is very less.
It should have been at least 1500.

998 quadrant is slow although it doesnt always mean much my 2.2.1 rom stock jpy was in the 13 hundreds.
