Here's the Samsung Galaxy S on Gingerbread, benchmarked

Please stop using benchmarks. First of all, they don't accurately reflect real life performance and Quadrant is known to have skew results (eg OCLF increase the score up to 2XXX from 9XX, but phone is not twice as fast). Second, Galaxy S has a fps (frames per second) cap at 56. I would think GSM Arena would know this, but running all these benchmark shows that GSM Arena are not technical people.

I dont get why samsung cant do thins like Ryan OCLF lag fix app does, i mean if samsung dont know then give Ryan OCLF a job coz samsung is defo ineed of some help, sad but tru, im on galaxy 2.2.1 rooted with Ryan OCLF lag fix and my sgs is the fastest on the benchmarked grid
i will upgrade but ill wait till theres a Ryan OCLF lag fix for gingerbread before i do upgrade,
ps i also have the landscape mod so the home screen and app menu also go into landscape so again i wont be upgradin unless the guy who did the mod akes it for gingerbread.

Finally gsmarena for it's first time is trying to have a decent comments section. I'm really happy that this day has come after suffering from the old jungle system where people could swear, hate, troll and curse 24/7 with out even getting punished.
This made some sick people really push it to the limits and take full advantage of the situation, specially the ones with no real life or hope. So, now I'm proudly announcing that this website is being more decent and professional and it's definitely heading in the correct direction.
Keep it up!

After waiting for so long for the 2.2 update for my Vibrant I found it to suffer from more lag than before the update. I finally got so tired of it that I rooted and installed the Team Whiskey Bionix-V 1.3 rom and it has made my Vibrant be the phone it wants to be. No lag at all,65+ on Neocore, and the GPS locks on and the Nav starts speaking directions within a minute. Shocked the heck out of me.Go to XDA and free your phone to be all it can be.

AnonD-2792, 01 Mar 2011That score is awfully low. Does that mean that the lag fix ... moreBecouse Samsung can't believe that a simple geek like Ryan beat all the brainy brainy geeks working at Samsung. They are too proud to admit that their product is far from perfect.

Only 988, that's %&?!/. I have 1841 on my rooted Galaxy S running Froyo. Don't want Gingerbread ruining my Galaxy S. Even the Galaxy S 2 isn't that impressive, coming third place in a race against the Atrix and Optimus 3D, which came first. So I will probably get the Optimus instead of the Galaxy S 2. But then the Atrix has webtop and a badass battery, hmmmm.

I got my Galaxy S back in June and I still have been unable to update to Froyo, as I have a mac Samsung Kies is not compatable with it. I tried to upgrade 2.2 on friends laptop but could find no such thing as Froyo firmware on Sammy website (only Froyo instruction booklet). Incredably frustrating process anyway. Hope Gingerbread comes to ALL S owners (i'm in U.K) and is easy to download. Why is it not done over the air anyway???
