04 March, 2011
Motorola Flipout and Charm users, we have to break out some bad news. Motorola won’t be bringing out a Froyo update to your devices. Yes, it sucks, but Moto has long stated that their users should buy their...

Sohaib, 07 Mar 2011Motorola's customer support surely is the most pathetic one... moreI have been using my Milestone for over a year right now and have not encountered any of the issue you mentioned. The phone works perfectly fine and given Milestone 2 is already available, I'll opt to "upgrade" to Milestone 2, but will keep my Milestone 1 as part of my Milestone.

AnonD-272, 07 Mar 2011but it is better, Motorola is better than Sony Ericsson, ... moreI feel the same way and agree with you. Most of the "news" here regarding Motorola are negative, while new phones, even low end ones, always get reported for other European brands.

It took "months" after the Milestone 2 was released for GSMA to make a review, who found the device almost flawless in its class.

The Swedish brand doesn't even know how to make "phones", as most of their phones, especially candy bar type, captures so much background noise that the person's own voice can hardly be heard. While Motorola offers THE BEST voice quality in the industry with its Crystal Talk technology.

Suggest the Swedish brand to concentrate on making tablets instead of "phones", oh, Motorola already started selling the XOOM tablet already!

their last years flag ship Xperia X10 will never get Froyo, they are the worst on update, At least NO Multi touch and 16M colors with eclair update even after year of delay and promises, finally came up with nothing, now they have confirmed they will never get updates again,

why gsmarena is only highlighting Motorolas failures with minor . than SE's flagship failures, shame on

gsmarena never spoke about X10's never update,
but they have taken time to write an article on this Motorola issue,

gsmarena never took time to review on good ATRIX rather than bashing moto!!

sony Ericsson is behind this , otherwise why don't they write about X10 NOT having updates

For crying out loud, people, how do you expect a low end phone to get updates? This is bad for the phone cos it wont cope....The funny thing is that an update does not change the cpu speed nor the ram of the phone...so why bother putting GingerBread or the so called Froyo on a 256MB ram phone that hardly does 600mhz?? People if u need a Moto phone that perfoms, i consider you get ur hands on a Milestone 2 or the latest Atrix phone....with 1 gig ram and tegra 2 cpu. I think Motorola is one good company that thinks out there. If all the 1.6 or the 2.0 phones would be upgraded to 2.4 or whatever, whats the purpose of releasing new phones with the latest technology...Even the Almighty Brand never did that in its hey days. If you think Motorola sucks, then its simple, just dont buy one. Stop advertising your disgust cos we dont need it here. To some of us the word cellphone is synonymous to MOTOROLA. By the way i have used v6 maxx, v8088,L9,v600, and im currently using a milestone and soon i will be on Atrix!! Moto Rocks!!

Motorola's customer support surely is the most pathetic one. I am using a Milestone and now i am pretty much sure it's nothing short of a milestone for motorola to provide the froyo update for the middle-east and asian countries. Had this phone been bug free, i would have never asked for an upgrade but this one has more bugs than a crops field. Self restarts, faulty touch response, screen black outs...you name it and it's there. Apart from all this, what bugs me the most is that froyo update has been aired for customers in US, sometime by mid last year. I don't know what on earth is different in the phones in the rest of the world???

Motorola treat their customers like fools - that's why their market share is getting smaller. It's not only about updates, their customer support is pathetic. I have a Motorola Defy now but will never buy another Moto product again.

I am an user of Milestone 1 which I bought last year for around US$485. I received several updates until 2.1 last summer.

To be honest, with my daily use, I don't see much difference regarding the updates.

Yes, some may say 2.2 have app2SD, which is quite important to me as well. However, one year down the road, we already have phones like Defy and Milestone 2, which make my original Milestone feels rather outdated.

So I'd rather "pay" to upgrade my phone...by trade-in my old phones for a new one, rather "begging" for an update. Afterall, free upgrades are just "bonus" or "nice to have", but Moto never committed upgrades for (relatively low-end) phones like Flipout.

Also, Moto put some "already upgraded" features like multi-touch on Quench (a feature on 2.1 but the phone is still on 1.5), 3G hotspot and Flash support on Defy (features on 2.2 while th phone is still on 2.1). Vs. I know some other makers have their phones "already upgraded" to 2.2 but still don't get the features like Flash.

So what's there to complain? Moto is the ONLY manufacturer to offers such wide range of Android phones with qwerty keyboard, and the ONLY waterproof touchscreen phone in the market, not to mention THE BEST voice quality unmatch by anyone else.

Some keep saying iphone gets 2 upgrades. If you ask most iphone users, including my wife, I don't think they even know or care what version of iOS their phones are running or how different are they from the previous version, and iphone charges around US$640 but can't change battery, no qwerty keyboard, and everything has to go thru itunes.

moto will always be last in the mobile world, and the reason being is that they simply dont put there customers 1st, all they are worried about is lining there own pockets....updates are classed as part of the "AFTER SALES CUSTOMER CARE" i think that motorola should remember this ......as the saying goes, look after your customers 1st and they will always return to look after you !! ive bought one moto phone (milestone xt720) but once i read and found out that they refused to do the 2.2 update, i sent the phone back to the shop nfor a full refund, so thats £320 for starters that they have lost from a sale from myself, i would love to find out how meany more people did the same as myself ....... 100-1000 ????? sorry but GOOD BYE MOTO

The problem with Android is, Fragmentation. Until Google decides to start running the show and give out orders to manufacturers to get into the program then everyone is S.O.L. Thing is, handset manufacturers are not ordered to release updates. They release just for competition sake. The handset company will keep releasing phones after phones with little to no updates.

such a lame excuse by moto. if it wasnt for the update support issue, i wouldve bought the defy long ago. instead im still deciding and waiting to see when 2.2 is released..let alone 2.3.

at least with apple they constantly support their (limited) product line. however small the update, it still keeps users happy.
