I won't get it anyway. That facial recognition feature is intetesting, but I think other devices will do the job just fine. As I said previously, the S7/Edge is still good to go at least until the S9.

I think it will be a tiered system: Pick up your phone and it attempts an Iris scan. If it works, it unlocks. If not, it refers to the facial recognition scan and then unlocks if the Iris scan was a partial match for that face. If not, or it's unsure, it asks you to use the fingerprint scanner.

From my point of view, samsung is creating a safe box.
Like seriously, so many security measure in a phone.

AnonD-331984, 09 Mar 2017Oh please... My old xperia e3 and m2 has facial recognition... moreWhy so narrow minded? If this rumor is true, Samsung would probably use this technology for online-banking, secure folder, Samsung Pay, and whatnot. Surely this technology won't go to waste for 'just' unlocking your phone.

This is my suggest: Smarter unlocker that read your DNA instead older un-locker!
Mechanism: this un-locker does unlock your phone only with your hand or your blood! (Spit! Why not!?) Just for Smartphone owner :)

AnonD-331984, 09 Mar 2017Oh please... My old xperia e3 and m2 has facial recognition... moreYeah, sure. But this time it WORKS!
Unbelievable Samsung! Even Apple plans to copy this feature in thier next phone.
I really hope it will also work in a 45 degree setup (so you don't have to be in front of the phone). That could eliminate the problem of FPS getting on the back. This way you could open the phone when it lies on the desk, without picking it up.
But of course it won't work like this :(((.

FaceGle, 09 Mar 2017but in reality, no one will use the iris scanner, or maybe ... moreLOL. That's a good joke bro (not). That's exactly what people said when Apple introduce the finger print scanner in the iPhone 5s. People like you said that the fingerprint scanner is a gimmick. Now FPS is a must for a smartphone. It will be the same thing with the iris scanner and facial recognition.
