AnonD-270570, 10 Mar 2017A10 fusion is the biggest fraud It's just a snapdragon 821 on steroids bruh. both chipsets tick at 2.35 GHz. and use a dual cluster two cores system. so I don't see why it's fraud.

This is a good advancement. Although, I dont see Helio being used in many flagships except some chinese brand midranger or low budget phone. Most smartphone manufacturer already start to build their own processor. Like Xiaomi's Surge & Pinecone, Huawei's Kirin, Samsung's Exynos, Apple's A chipset and the others.
Mediatek might end up being unused even if they try to be this competitive. They have a very low demand in the market. Major brand using in-house chipset and less dependable on this Mediatek. Smaller die only contribute so much on battery life. Other aspect is just a small improvement. I would be more pleased if they phased out the outdated 28-20nm chipsets. Start using 16nm at least on the low budget phone. This 7nm will end up exclusively reserved for the super expensive flagship smartphone anyway.

The multimedia market will belong to AMD and Intel, for the simple reason of backwards compatability without needing to up the clock speeds to insanely high amounts for a smooth 2ghz x86 experiance. You can state that the mass market does belong to ARM architecture, because smartphones and tablets (i still don't get why we can't have

mir, 10 Mar 2017True. All this talk about higher clock speeds and more core... morePeople just look at spec sheets and benchmarks to decide what to get.
Which has nothing to do with how well optimised devices are and doesn't give the whole story about performance.
So oems just need to give bigger spec sheets to get more sales than really working to improve their devices.

However multi core matters too.
And I don't know if you are in denial or just never actually used an iPhone but there are lots of crashes and even some lags.
Though aside from the throttling in a10 I'm sure some of that is apples magic "optimizing".

Someone Else, 10 Mar 2017"A10 Fusion SOC(4W TDP) has the same performance as a last ... moreGeekbench 4 proves they have the same single core and multi core performance, 3D mark that they have similar GPU performance. Ok, they have different architectures , ARM vs x86-64 and A10 would need emulator(at which Microsoft is working) to run Windows. But Apple may be doing a ARM version of MacOS and considering the huge difference in efficiency and the savings of doing themselves the chips, we can see Hurricane and Zephyr cores in the second half of 2017 or 2018. ARM has great potential, it's more efficient and less complex than x86, all it needs is software support to crush Intel in the multimedia laptop market, not yet desktop or gaming laptop market.

AnonD-39937, 10 Mar 2017Samsung never beat Snapdragon in terms of graphics with the... moreIn the s1 and s2 samsung had a lead in graphics.
And they have just about always had a lead in cpu and that was definitely more than 10% in most cases.
As well as a lead in audio and many times power consumption too.
And then the note 4 was slightly behind in geophysical but then the S805 throttled back more and the exynos 5433 cane out ahead.
Same case with the S6 and exynos 7420 vs snapdragon 810.
And the mali g71 may very well pull out ahead. And may even offer greater sustained performance as well

If media tk will show good pricing for the 7nm they will eat the market wish them best
