The last update I received for my S5 (February patch) was a cool one. It cleaned up my storage. Before the update, 7.60GB storage space was used up. After the update it went down from 7.60GB to 7.13GB. That's basically a 500MB trim. All of my personal files were still in tact so I have to commend Samsung for doing a wonderful job with these updates.

Each update seems to improve the device better whether it be in speed or more storage not to mention secure the device against the latest threats. It's a win win situation any way you look at it.

Thanks for the feedback. I take it that the differences with the S7 Edge vs S5 is the same as the regular S7 vs the S5.

AnonD-1385, 18 Mar 2017To Obi Wan Kenobi: It's funny how the best in class, S5,... moreS5 is my daily driver but I have had plenty of experience with S7/S7 edge. All are pretty good.

          S7 edge over S5:

Longer battery life, better IP68 water protection (without USB cover like the one on S5), superb OIS back camera especially in low light (once you start using it you won't go back to the S5),
          better front camera,
slightly better screen (not very noticeable though),
guaranteed OS updates till Android O at least,
          more powerful chip-set (obviously),
          Theme support,
          better-looking metal and glass build,
not much bigger than S5 even with bigger screen,
starts at 4GB and 32GB ROM (compared to S5's 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM),
          Gear VR support,
          faster & wireless charging support

          S5 over S7 edge:

Older Better UI (subjective personal choice: it has a bit more customization in some areas),
non-edge screen (if that's your taste),
          Infrared blaster,
          Removable battery (but still waterproof),
true dual-SIM + extra MicroSD card slot (unlike hybrid variety on S7),
          MicroSIM (nanoSIM on S7 edge),
          USB 3.0 vs 2.0 on S7,
S5 if way cheaper (if you can find one) but there are some pretty good deals on S7 edge also right now!

It's funny how the best in class, S5, is under-rated. It was under-rated even before it released with people as well as competitors taunting that it looked like a big band-aid at the back. That was clearly a case of judging a book by it's cover as many persons constantly say, up to this very day, that the S5 is the best to date.

I have seen where a few persons have given the S7 Edge good ratings but I don't own one or have any hands on experience with one. Those larger screens aren't my cup of tea. I guess I will eventually check it out one of these days. Do you own a S7 Edge my friend?

I share the same feeling (although S7 edge is pretty great too)!
The S5 is so under-appreciated and under-rated IMO.

Good to know the best S series to date (S5) is being awarded with updates month after month after month. I find it hard to part with my S5 as I see nothing new to the table as yet.
