Just drawing conclusions based on my incomplete set of data ;) I noticed Samsung doesn't put as much effort in software as it does in hardware. Camera department may be an exception, but a few years back their cameras weren't all that good. Plus their touchwiz used to be first thing to replace when you got a new phone. They're getting better at it but still need some work.

I'd say Apple is far ahead in the software department (judging using incomplete set of information, again), but I never used a macbook or an iPhone for more than 5 minutes.

Anonymous, 19 Mar 2017So are you a computer scientist? No, I'm a programmer and my wife is IT recruiter. Feeds me all sorts of info on who's hot (desired and quickly hired) and who's not. Programmers who leave Samsung are in the second category, although Samsung is picky about their hires. Weird situation, to be honest.

Apple invests $500M into Research & Development. The text says they'll also cooperate with local schools, universities. So no, not really $500M into marketing (I'm pretty sure they throw MUCH more into marketing, same as Samsung does). Samsung spent $7.000M on making more, Apple is going to spend $500M on making better. I'm not an Apple fan, but I wish Samsung would spend some more on programmers. Like, 5 times more on QUALITY programmers - at least in my country its hard to get into Samsung as a programmer, but programmers who come out of Samsung are considered "weak".

what will they research ? how to steal more money ? apple = useless products

For people who where wondering why Apple spend money on R&D

Those R&D Centers are made to buy and gather patents in those specific countries.
They search and buy patents from other companies. And because for last few years Apple had problems with patenting and lawsuits in China they will just put new center there and they will ensure that all patents are bought and lawsuits will be prepared to launch if it will be necessary.
