AnonD-291, 18 Mar 2011those phones are laggy ? atleast theyre much better than sy... moreAs I've said, I agree that Symbian UI is outdated, but until Nokia bring the new UI (that won't take long), I can assure you that all Symbian "problems" have a solution. (:
Lol if pick up one or two features makes it a overall copy, I can't image how Apple and all Android manufacters are Nokia-copy-cats, simply because almost all hardware features that phones have today were introduced by Nokia. (:
Symbian is fragmented? But at least Nokia makes some sense for the use of each version: S60v3 is for non-touch phones, S60v5 is not very thumbable, so it's better for resistive screens and cheap phones, S^3 is for the most advanced phones.
Android manufacters simply turn a random-roullete to choose which version of the OS they will use. lol

all this has been blown out of context here and people are forgetting the advantages of having a dual core processor on a handheld device, faster processing MAY or may-not use more battery, but we are forgetting about the USERS, people want their programs to run faster, check their mail quicker and games look slicker. All i can hope is that with the Dual core processors have the option to switch off one processor untill clock idle speed gets below a certain point.

See mobile processors are all about combining processing speed and mobility, whereas pc processors continue develop just considering the processing speed. 'The old generation single core pc processers can do wat latest generation dual core mobile processors'. So what? Can u imagine a 'mobile' device with pentium 4 or AMD athlon? Answer me pls.

AnonD-3535, 18 Mar 2011See?, thats what I'm talkin' about, the more powerful the p... moreYou probably didnt understand what i tried to say in my last post. Your logic that a slower processor "always" consumes less power than a faster one is COMPLETELY FLAWED.
It maybe true for SAME line of processors with SAME architecture like two ARM 11 running at different clockspeeds, or two hummingbirds, etc.
But you logic is no longer valid as the architecture, clockspeed, clockcycle, technology changes.
A faster processor can be faster and more efficient than a slower one.
Let me give you an example:
There are 2 processors x and y,
y is much faster than x
x takes say 5 seconds to complete a task and go to idle mode,
and y takes 2 seconds to do the same task.
x consumes a lower 2 units per second, so total = 2x5 = 10 units
now y consumes higher 4 units per second, therefore = 4x2 = 8 units
See how y is faster, consumes more power per second, but yet has lower
net consumption.
An example of this in real world would be pentium 4 vs core 2 duo
While a core 2 duo is faster than pentium 4 in all aspects, it also consumes one third the power of pentium.

AnonD-291, 18 Mar 2011i asked some techy people as you demanded and they said tha... moreSee?, thats what I'm talkin' about, the more powerful the processor is, the more battery consumption it needs, and also, android requires it, can't you see what I am pin-pointing? Man, it needs more money to be the best, whereas, symbian won't require a lot, who is the looser now?.., of course andriod users, why would anyone buy a phone that is as expensive as the laptops? In w/c others can get the same or better performance on a not so expensive one.
You will probably say that you are the true winner as you can have the best performing OS/phone, I can't imagine, why a little phone needs a dual core just to have a better performance, compare to other pc's and laptops that are performing fast with just a single core, see the difference?

AnonD-3713, 18 Mar 2011Yeah yeah, faster processor = better performance, sure. Unf... morethose phones are laggy ? atleast theyre much better than symbian, especially the symbian browser.
and why do you conveniently forget what Nokia copied from iOS ? Hint: pinch to zoom, capacitive touchscreen, etc.
android is fragmented ? what about symbian ? how many symbian versions are there ? s60v5, s60v3, s40, symbian 3........and god knows how many more....... what about that?

AnonD-3535, 17 Mar 2011Hahaha, are you insane? can't you compose your own comments... moreCompletely agree with you.
Sure Android is the most advanced OS on the market, seriously, look how Android team is experienced: They just picked up the Linux Kernel that is free and is already done and everyone can use and made a Java interface that is so easy to do and consumes CPU power and battery like nothing else since it's not a native interface. Yeah, the experienced people behinde Android OS don't even know how to make a native interface. Symbian UI is outdated? Sure it is, but at least Nokia never tried to cppy iOS and never tried stupid ways to make e beautiful UI (Java), Symbian deserves a lot more respect than this overated Android, people loves it because it's all eye candy and all phone makers are using it. But I'm sure there's some kind of brain-washing behind it all, since almost all american websites want to make you believe that Android is the future. Why? Because it's the only OS that could overcome Symbian market share, and it's alot more convenient for americans to have an american OS rulling the smartphone market.

Unfortunatelly, Android NEEDS fast processor unless it runs laggy, take a look at Xperia X10, Galaxy Spica, Galaxy Ace, Motorola Defy, Motorola Milestone and EVEN Milestone 2, they are all laggy. Pathetic.
Android is so fragmented that it have a research of market share inside it OWN ecosystem... Jesus.

What sucks is that fact that "New Phones" give the latest Android a jump in numbers
that means us customers need to go out dish out high dollars to get it,
they should also release what phones haves been upgraded to the latest Android and how often that will show the real picture.
The Reason that older phones running 2.1 below are still on the chart proves this, most of the guys who had those phones probably got new ones not new software while some of them just kept it

CIREz, 17 Mar 2011I had never been used an SYMBIAN device, what is it like?..... moreHahaha, are you insane? can't you compose your own comments? My God, please give some intelligence to these people, I am willing to give them mine a little. Symbian OS will surely show all its potential and power if it will be associated with at least 800 Mhz processor, and 300+ mb ram, a little logic my friend, you are just obviously bashing, Oh, you mentioned you like a 5mp camera only, you must be living in stone ages, hahaha,
Andriod OS can't even run smoothly with all its potential in atleast 800 mhz processor, thats why it needs a lot of battery power as it needs a powerful processor. Or maybe you need the battery of a truck to last it for days. lol
Just compare the prices, Androids are very expensive because of the powerful processors, ram, battery etc. to run the OS perfectly, thats not good,
people nowadays are just looking for the numbers, what happen to their logics? :(

massie, 17 Mar 2011why andriod??? symbian is far better
Symbian seems to be designed for non-touch screen phones that use a T-9 keypad for input. Android seems to be designed with touch screen in mind.
Having used both, I find that Symbian allows a little more flexibility under the hood. There are things I can configure on Symbian that I do not have the same flexibility. This is not such a big advantage since you don't configure these underlying features regularly. You usually configure it once and that's it.
Android, gives you a better UI experience. You use the UI every day and every time you use the phone. It's just much easier to do things that you would do every day on Android.

Anonymous, 17 Mar 2011the hardware doesnt dissapear, its just the operating syste... moreNope. How come 1.5 updated within 1 year [2009 - 2010] ?
Who introduced an update to 1.5 / 1.6 users in 2010 ?
No one!
Even newer phones can hardly get update.
So when we look at the lost percentage of 1.5 we can conclude that they all gone to bin.
