Samsung Galaxy S8 Microsoft Edition comes with even more bloatware

30 March 2017
Just in case the two virtual assistants built into the non-Microsoft edition S8 weren't enough for you, this model has three.

That has got to be april fools. BTW I have an HP x3 and though I like it I wonder if I should pick a Mi MIX 6GB/256GB in white as soon as it's avaiable. Opinions?

franz.alex, 30 Mar 2017I really don't get why so many companies are in a rush to d... moreVirtual assistants will be on of the next steps in "smart" enabling all these android wear watches. The only problem is that the vast majority of people don't take advantage of the voice features available with Apple or Android or voice enabled messaging apps...they still use the screen and keyboard to enter text in spite of many applications (such as messaging) support voice to text.

There are already smart watches that will have a number of different feature combinations, including sim card slot, mic, camera, wi-fi and bluetooth. As the tech improves so will the features. Smart watches with voice command and voice assistants are a natural fit given the proximity of the device (on your wrist) and the limited screen size.

My guess is another 2-3 years for the hardware and software to get to a place where these devices are more feature rich and consequently more practical.

            theres bloatware and bloatware.
theres the one that nags you and offers nothing that you cant turn off.

ms apps are pretty neat and easy to turn off. i dont see the issue with that, plus you don't have to buy from them anyway (but if you do you get free onedrive space and office i guess)

No. Microsoft edition should come with dual-boot with W10 (the full one) that will be only active with the DeX station. THAT would be awesome.

Trasher, 30 Mar 2017It's called bloatware because they put some apps on YOUR ph... moreSome of these apps are exclusive and not available on play store, you may call the Samsung default browser as bloatware tho it's much more capable and user friendly than chrome or other browsers you can install. Such apps are also more integrated just like Samsung Internet browser's own private mode which uses fingerprint scanner. It will have a whole private set of bookmarks and its not just like incognito mode in chrome. Samsung theme store will also be bloatware for it in this sense. If I'm getting pre-installed apps and features which are more integrated and exclusive then it's a good thing. I don't want a simple phone which tells me download anything you want from the play store. Important apps like a fully integrated calendar just like S planner, memo, calculator, browser, additional stores, word, excel, ppt and the exclusive brand features should be pre-installed. There are alot of health apps on app store but nothing beats Samsung's own S health your so called bloatware with full integration with Samsung gear watch paired with heart rate, oxygen and stress level monitoring and options for blood pressure recording. If you've a problem with these additional features get some stock Android phone but we love Samsung for the bloatware.
