The Galaxy S8 is a big deal, but it owes everything to the first Galaxy phone to rise over the horizon.

I mean their phones' displays are good, but that's due to the great effect of Super AMOLED technology, hence some IPS screens from Apple, Sony, and even LG, managed to fool me that their panels are OLEDs (Xperia X blew me away with the brightness, contrast, colors, and black levels). Once these companies start getting OLED, Samsung will start to lose their only advantage over every other else (their processors are better than any SnapDragon SoCs yet others like OnePlus, LG, Sony, HTC, etc. utilize those inferior SoCs better than Samsung - which explains why the SD820 version of the S7 Edge is so bad compared to Exynos).

I miss the golden age. I wish future phones would cost more than 1000 dollars so very few people would be able to afford them.

Nice Article! I remember the Samsung Omnia advertising it's "bright" AMOLED screen in early 2009 (and this was before the first Galaxy). It was a picture of a man with a phone in his shirt pocket whose screen was as bright as a flashlight.
        Ah, how time flies!
