Anonymous, 03 Apr 2017"lol..even iPhone have 720p display.." iPhone does get c... more"iPhone does get criticized for the low resolution display, and rightly so. Never seen anyone commending Apple for that."

So basically, iPhone is crap. End of story

"Cool story, bro. Sony Xperia phones have been notorious for poor displays with washed out colors and mediocre viewing angles, and here you claim a 3 year old mid-range phone has a better display than the one of Redmi Note 4. Don't say this anywhere else or you will be laughed at."

Glad to know that you Xiaomi garbage managed to beat Samsung's Super AMOLED panel. How about you ask GSMArena about Sony's displays? Well, I guess this is what happens when people bought an inferior phone, they criticize the better one. Oh, wait, at least the phone doesn't bend in half. Mi5 that carries $200 isn't even as durable as an iPhone 6 - a laughable build quality.

    "
MediaTek SoCs are notorious for battery inefficiency and next to none custom ROM support"

So you assumed already that ALL MediaTek SoCs are the same, just because some aren't that good? That's sad because benchmarks of their SoCs told us that those chips is just as efficient as Qualcomm's SD6xx series, whilst being more powerful by a margin as well. Nobody will need a custom ROM if only the phone's OEM made a worthy OS. Yep, Xiaomi NEEDS it because their OS sucks.

"UI is a personal preference. It's not like I prefer MIUI, but one can always flash a custom ROM for Vanilla Android cuz of Snapdragon 625. The P20 is gonna have almost no support."

Your favorite UI is a preference, but which one is more stable isn't. Sony is clearly light years ahead of Xiaomi in terms of OS, and to the best, they're considered to have the most stable OS on Android platform. And like I've said, your Xiaomi trash needs a custom ROM because Xiaomi can't provide a decent OS to your phone. What a wasted SD625 if you're not gonna make use of it with your own OS instead.

"Learn proper English before you make a fool out of yourself"

So changing the topic makes you admit that Sony is a quintillion decades ahead of Xiaomi. End of the topic.

"If you read my post carefully again, I was mostly referring to the bang for the buck."

Exactly, at the purchase, it's bang for the buck. Use it and it's bang on your head for the problems it'll give you.

"Sure, but you get a very good phone for just $200 that ticks mostly all the boxes. You pay $320 for a phone with no fingerprint reader, MediaTek SoC, and (if my guess is right) poor battery life."

Lol whut? What does those mediocre devices tickle? Chinese OEMs are notorious for installing spyware on their devices. That's what the phone tickles - your private information. No thanks, I'd rather have a fingerprint scanner-less device but safe-from-malware device. Oh, should I forget that a 4,000mAh Chinese battery = 2,000mAh known brand battery?
Well, you'll always deny that because "it's bang for the buck". I guess you're glad enough that your phone will stay to what OS you got it. And yeah, the phone will at least be consistent in performance even after 3 years. I could barely name a single Xiaomi phone that has a consistent performance. Too bad we're not easily fooled by numbers

Specs aren't everything, but you can always deny every truth we tell you. Peace :3

I'm not a fan of Xiaomi. But you gotta agree no phone can beat the Redmi Note 4 in giving the best bang for your buck.

        "import fees"

I'm from India, and Xiaomi manufactures phones here in India itself. So no import fee, and the phone is sold at exactly $200.

"If you think it is overpriced, check out phones like the A5(2017) which is around $100 more expensive"

Of course, the A5 2017 is over priced, too. But it does come with a fingerprint reader, IP 68 protection, Always On Display, 1080p SAMOLED display, amazing battery life.. the list goes on. So yeah, while it's expensive it's got some redeeming features unlike the Xperia XA, which has none of them.

Other than that, the design is likeable.

This is a pretty worth it phone in my opinion, and Sony is off to a good start here. If you think it is overpriced, check out phones like the A5(2017) which is around $100 more expensive. It's tri-core Mali-T830 is nowhere near the Mali-T880MP2 in this thing. And Mediatek is not all that bad, I have a MTK phone here (MT6591) and I can say it offers satisfying performance for the price I bought my phone ($80). Going with Mediatek, Sony si making a business decision, Mediatek chips generally offer "competitive" performance at a lower price compared to their Snapdragon counterparts. The P20's counterpart is the SD625 which is built on a 14nm node while the P20 is built on a 16nm node. Other than that, you may be seeing even performance between an SD625 phone and a P20 phone like the XA1.

People who buy this junk are hopeless. $320 for a 720p display, laughable MediaTek SoC, Poor GPU, no fingerprint reader, and a measly 2300 mAh battery. Haha!

The only redeeming feature of this phone is the supposedly good camera (both front and rear), and hey, the phone looks aesthetically good. Typical Sony - makes beautiful phones, but crams poor specs, and sells at exorbitant prices. And one wonders why Sony is sinking.

Redmi Note 4 puts this phone to shame in pretty much every department, save for the cameras. And guess what? It costs only $200, and you get a better 5.5" 1080p display, too.
