Thanks samsung you are nice. Well truly no need foldable bendable screen technology to make foldable phone screens. Can put two screens when clossely when unfolding and hinges. Like olds style just improved. So any other company will easaly will can release foldable phone-tablet touch screen device. Anytime. Others companys also not waiting. So its game when waiting can lose.

Standby time refers to the amount of time a phone can remain powered on while not being used. And I mean not being used in the sense of at all. That means no incoming or outgoing texts, messages, phone calls, emails or any thing else that alters the data on the phone. So what's the point in buying a $800 phone and not using it. I heard your so called ultra stamina mode will give 1-2 days of moderate usage. Which is better than the other flagships but not to the extant of one week battery life you just boasted of.

I hope some Chinese OEM beats them to the foldable punch this year (2017) so Samsung takes back what they just said they will delay to 2019 and instead have them ready a year earlier (2018). LOL. So no Galaxy X this year, huh?

Where the release date of these bendable phones are concerned, why not make it 2020? It's all about vision right?

Anonymous, 04 Apr 2017Foldable connectors have been used since decades.. its the ... moreYes but flip phones didn't have to connect batteries and properly use them. You're not going to have 1 side with a battery, it's going to require more power to power a larger screen. There's too many complex things that you need to manage between the different points, not like a dumb flip phone.
You don't need to fold the oled to create a crease. A good design can let it maintain a curve. LG's newest wallpaper tv's can actually bend. These are already out and are placed on walls using magnets. They are super light and thin. I believe the next level is even crazier.

I don't think Song venturing into the smartphone business was a good venture. That was always Motorola, Nokia and Samsung (in order of leaders over the decades) territory. Sony have always been known to be a big brand and very expensive one at that but they excelled in consumer electronics like TVs, component sets (hi-fi radio systems) to name a few. It's ok for companies to venture into other areas but if it's not working out then 'GET OUT'. Panasonic was another pioneer in consumer electronics right up there with Sony and Panasonic ventured into the phone business but never did well...just like Sony. Nokia got really bold somewhere around 1995 and ventured into the computer monitor business but that didn't work out well for them either...that was 22 years ago. I remember an ad where Nokia called out NEC and Viewsonic telling them to move over because Nokia is here. Well they never got there and I'm yet to see one of those Nokia monitors in real life. Nokia then decided to stick to what they do best...making phones. Companies should stick to what they do best.

Fast forward to now, and I can enjoy games, movies, social media, variety of apps, and so much more. I basically use an app like Postmates and DoorDash to make money.

I got a free Gear VR and used it yesterday. I can watch all my movies in a virtual movie theater. I was dreaming about VR 25 years ago and now here we are and phones with beautiful screens, great cams, and water-resistant. We have been spoiled so much the last decade.

You can buy any phone now for any platform in any price range and I would say 95% of them would be pretty good and better than flagships from 3 years ago...

Disappointing. Nomore Samsung for another 2 years. I hope LG beats them to it already.

Samsung has worked on foldable display for eight years now. They just want to milk this bezel-less trend for a couple more years.

At least I have one less device to buy.
