AT&T first agenda is to acquire their $39 billion back! Then we'll be lucky to see competitive prices. Worst case senario is to give up mobile data all together. Wi-fi will just have to be enough. In meantime, I'll be mentallly preparing myself. I refuse to be bullied into paying redicilous fees for mobile data. This is exactly why I park my car and bus 90% of time. I vote with my wallet. While I may be just one person, I'm making a stand... GOOGLE, WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!

Anonymous, 21 Mar 2011there is something you we can do about it boycot. or switch... moreExcept AT&T will become the only carrier in US running on GSM network, meaning all the people / phones from outside of US will be forced to use AT&T, while for customers within US, unless Verizon will offer more "Global" (or GSM compatible) handsets, who often need to travel to the rest of the world will also be stuck with AT&T.
Agree with another comment the people at AT&T don't know what they're talking about. And how bad is AT&T's signal? The antenna issue on iphone4 has NEVER been an issue where I live, due to strong coverage from the 5 different operators....yes, I'm living in a city with population 7 million, about "so call" 1064 sq.km and we've "5" GSM operators.
Also agree T-mobile "tried" to compete with AT&T's iphone by introducing the 1st Android G1, and HTC was the one who benefitted with its My Touch line.
Guess if HTC has enough cash, it should consider buy up Tmobile USA, though those in power will likely stop the deal as HTC isn't an American company.

I'm a employee of Deutsche Telekom in Germany.
All employees got that news from Rene Obermann today.
Year by year the CEO is telling is about the business in the US.
Every year it was the same.
- we get more and more costumers
- we earn more and more profit
- we will invest a lot of money the next years
And now that? Don't know, if this is a good deal...
Here in the old world it sounds very attractive to have 8% of AT&T (I guess still the largest provier worldwide).
To be the strongest single stockholder and to have a seat in the board of directors.
Hope our board of directors is doing the best for Deutsche Telekom.

I have been with T-mobile since march of 2003. Their service is fine and prices are less than competitors. I used AT&T from 2000-2001 and sprint thereafter. T-mobile was the best of the bunch. All I have to say is Im going to enjoy the last days of T-mobile and then well I dont know what will I do then, because there are no more good companies left. ATT will kill all of those little competitors such as boot mobile and simple mobile and virgin mobile. I personaly dont like sprint and verizon is too expensive. Finaly, I cant express myself how much i hate ATT!!
F**C them

Lenn, 21 Mar 2011I'm with AT&T and I will tell you this is not good. The... moreYou can always switch carriers. Yes, you might have to pay the early termination fee upfront but trust me, it'll still be way cheaper in the long run and you won't be stuck with a crappy carrier with crappy service, etc. What's the point of having awesome phones in your line up when your network is whack? I tried Sprint (after it acquired Nextel) and like their service - customer and network. Verizon, I don't like their higher costs but at least their network is solid. I chose T-Mobile because they had all three - great customer service, a stable network, and of course competitive prices. Now what??

AT&T isn't as bad as it's made out to be. I've had them for 6 years now, & other than some areas with spotty coverage, there are a decent provider.
The rollover minutes are great, along with the M2M free calling. My monthly bill is $62.00 with unlimited web, & messaging & 600 minutes a month.

I promise I will leave both companies if this happens ... The Germans are learning the America way of screwing up things .... I have been with tmobile for the past 8 years ... I tried att with work and they were worthless and expensive , their billing was very poor ,also the lack of communication between billing and customer service .... There goal is how to add more money for less services ..... In the end I tell deutch telekom thanks for screw up ... Money blinds everything .... I use to have respect for tmobile but not any more .

I don't particularly mind the merger... I think it really will provide better service/reception to everyone, but I don't want my prices going up. It said in the FAQ that any contracts that you had with T-Mo will still be honored. So I can jump ship after 2 years if I don't like how it turns out.
P.S.
I like the photoshop GSMarena did. Its nice.

I've been an AT&T customer for about 18 years now. My only complaint is that their customer support knows nothing outside their "at&t" world. I own a nokia n8 and I bet if you asked their support what a n8 was, most of them would say "what is that".
Sorry T Mobile customers. I just keep at&t because all my family and friends have it.

It's very interesting that comments about this acquisition on every site I browsed are only negative comments. Is anyone from FCC viewing these comments before they approve it? Or, who cares ...!
