They will be used inside the new iPhone 8 which will be unveiled in the fall alongside the iPhone 7s and 7s Plus.

Anonymous, 06 Apr 2017Why on earth downgrade from Note 4 (best phablet ever) to S... moreHey, you all seem to forgot this is the S series not Note series. So many people expecting S8 to be as good or better than Note7. That is a wrong way of seeing it. Stop comparing it with Note7 or any Note series. S8 is the S7 successor. So much have improved since the S7. S8 didnt take away any feature from the S7 but keep adding more instead. They even added quite a lot of Note7 feature for the sake of Note7 ex-users. So, you can expect the Note8 will be more intriguing than Note7 or even this S8.

AnonD-652888, 06 Apr 2017Yeah, you're right. The fingerprint scanner is earth shattering.Calling a masterpiece of smartphone engineering that instantly makes the iPhone 7 look like a relic from the past "poorly engineered" just because the fingerprint scanner is in a less than ideal location is a tad delusional. Forget about the fingerprint and use the iris scanner if you're bellyaching so much about the location of the former; at least you have a choice which no other smartphone offers you.

AnonD-652888, 06 Apr 2017Yeah, you're right. The fingerprint scanner is earth shattering.Well, you have other options to unlock your phone. I know it's a weird placement but it's not that bad as people make it out to be. Use your fingerprint scanner for only secure purposes otherwise use facial recognition or iris scanner.

AnonD-77443, 06 Apr 2017It's no surprise that the S8+ has high demand.
A lot of ... moreNote 4:
Spen
Top SoC (exynos version) almost to this day
IR
Top battery (either putting a bigger aftermarket one, or through carrying a spare)
Instant top up (charging a spare during the day)
Excellent software (weekly Lineage OS that shames any software Samsung produces. Pure Google baby)
One of the best mobile cameras ever.
Top QHD screen.
Need me to go on? You also find it dirt cheap. There is literally no phone offering so much. Even at $800 it would be an arguably good choice

AnonD-77443, 06 Apr 2017It's no surprise that the S8+ has high demand.
A lot of ... moreWhy on earth downgrade from Note 4 (best phablet ever) to S8+?
Only 40% better SoC (if you own Note 4 exynos), only 33% more ram, *but*
Battery life calls, over a steep cliff (no spares, no capacity to buy a bigger battery)
Lose S-pen
Lose the excellent community support (losing weekly support of Android's latest and greatest)
Back camera is barely better (actually less detail, barely better low light photography)
Screen barely better (Note 4's was already top of the top QHD)
Loss of IR
Added gimmicks (bixby and retina scan)
Only being waterproof is the one clear upgrade.
is all this loss and mayhem, worth it? Samsung has stopped making top hardware since Note 4 ... so selling their last top product seems like such a counter productive time move.

i saw it today in Vodafone and i think it looks awful i honestly dont know whats up with the hype
the screen is very long but because of that looks so small
i put my 950xl and s7edge next to it and they look way better
does anyone know what size exactly is the screen area (not the diagonal)?
maybe i will go with g6 this year

It is an upgrade in battery I think Samsung wouldn't care to talk about much since a slower degradation in battery means lesser annual repeat business and their planned obsolescence.

It's no surprise that the S8+ has high demand.
A lot of people had to return the GN7 (myself included) and there simply wasn't a good phablet alternative. Many GN7 users skipped the GN5 so were still using the GN4 from 2014 (myself included) which is still awesome .
If the S8+ had dual cameras i would be pre-ordering on... at the moment I'm not certain but probably will get the S8+.

So much hate in this comment section smh. Some are saying it's basically s7 edge with a new design. Well that's true for the most part but you have to admit that design change is huge. Look at the G6 and iPhone 7, what major changes did they bring? I won't complain about G6, it's a nice upgrade over G5 but they didn't change as much either and i'm not interested in iPhones. People already know how little iPhone changes over generation.

Sir Wills , 05 Apr 2017You what's so funny....When Apple says it's sales are highe... moreWait, you said Samsung's oled is inferior to Apple's ips lcd. Since when did apple innovate? Apple got their screen from Jdi (Japan display) which is apple's biggest suppliers of lcd. While, Samsung got theirs from Universal Display, so both Samsung and Apple are heavily dependent on other manufacturers.

Markobarko, 05 Apr 2017The way S8 and S8+ look it's no wonder they sell like crazy... moreS6 looked very unique too. Looks only matter for the first 2 months of sales. Afterwards features matter more and this phone gives nothing important over S7, in fact it actually gives a worse battery life in all propability (as expected S8 screen is more power hungry, as per DisplayMate, 25% more power hungry and the SoC using less battery won't equalise this), so people would stop buying halfwy and Samsung would be surprised ... again and carry on with the mistake.
I mean S6 removed removable battery and storage and they lost sth like 20 Mil of sales. They didn't care, the pushed on with the no battery look and nowadays the can't even break the 50 Mil mark. Samsung knows nothing of reading the market signs, they *again* put a small sealed battery. When would this madness stop?
