An 8MP Camera sensors are generally 3:4 with 2448×3264 resolution. So the 4k image is significantly wider. the minimum amount of megapixels to record 4k and having aspect ratio 3:4 (as it is generally with camera sensors) is 2880×3840 which equal to 11.6 megapixels.. But that doesn't mean minimum megapixels count to record 4k should be 11.6........... It will exactly equal to the pixel count of a 4k image i.e 8.3

$289 base price seems really damn good considering that's budget/mid-range price and this has a 835 while most in this price have 625s

Fake af. GFXBench only reveals the device's current spec, not its variety i.e the memories. It should only say 4 or 6GB of Ram and 64 or 128GB of internal storage but definitely not both. Also, there's no 8mp sensor can support 4K video. Sony can't even. How much more a xiaomi. Look at all the fools believing. Can't believe GSMarena also believed this. lol

Camera resolution have NOTHING to do with HD/FHD/QHD video recording capabilities, even 2mp camera can take 720p videos & 5mp can take 1080p videos, as long as the SoC support & the OS capable of recording 4K video using front camera, it can.
Just hope the Mi6 really come with Nougat, so it won't be too outdated when Android O launched few months later (as ALL MIUI8 now still using MM-based Android, Nougat MIUI is mi6 selling point alongside its SD835, making both software & hardware #1 in Xiaomi flagship lineup)

Plus Galaxy phones tend to slow down after a few months, Xiaomi - Miui phones do significantly less so. So forget the SD835, it's about Ram and OS optimization where it's at.
Also Xiaomi puts actually big batteries. So expect 4000 Mah from this.
The software is supported for longer too.
Where you lose is hardware service (you pretty much have to send it back to china which is unacceptable to many). The solution is to be extra careful.
The other problem is the camera, which while good I doubt it would be as good as Samsung's, which indded is a problem to many.
So unless you care *deeply* about the camera the Mi6 would be the clearly better solution. Better battery, better performance, better long term support and a sane aspect ratio so despite the smaller screen/device you actually get the same amount of data instead of ugly black bars (when compared to s8)
So yeah, it would be a better solution from S7/S8 for some people, worse for others (those that *need* good hardware service and/or an ultra high level camera).

3840 × 2160 is ~ 8mp, how can it have a 7 mp front camera with UHD video recording?
Xiaomi has to step up their camera game, especially their software.

Really and absolutely compliments to Xiaomi, and not just for sporting the SD835 and 3th only to the S8 and the XZ Premium, but to include 4K recording from the front/selfie camera. That i was expecting it from Samsung in the S8. So really well done to Xiaomi.
