Had the Sony Ericsson T68i as a present from my parents. It was 2003. Threw away my legendary Nokia 3310 (to the closet of course). Millennium kids probably had sammys first galaxy or iPhone 3GS lol.

I still have my external add-on camera that I used with my Sony Ericsson T310 which I have had since 2003. It really took good photos for it's time. It's a souvenir now.

Come on. Great article that should of continued following through. Remember rocking the Nokia N95 and taking outstanding pictures for its time on a Smartphone.

Had the S700i before, it was huge and heavy and you could risk to crack your marble floor should the phone fall and kiss the floor... The swivel front is cool but troublesome if you wanna use the phone with one hand...
The W900i was a superb upgrade from the S700i, with auto swivel front... There was the smaller and loud W550i but it's camera and manual swivel made it nothing to shout about...

Still, feels nice to reminisce bac... moreFun, simpler times indeed; I enjoyed my Sony Ericsson W550, because it was a like a spinner little boombox back in college haha. And friends would have Razrs, Nokias, many others, and a freaking Palm Treo lol. They were so easy to tell apart with all the forms and colors.
And then life became boring part-time jobs, and I have an Asus like any other. The new 3310 may be meh, but it's the best throwback we've got - and I'll take it.
PS: the Nokia 7280 was a terrible phone. But who cares? Form over function embodied hahahaha.

Still, feels nice to reminisce back to the times when things were different and new phones were always so exciting to read about, came with so many different form factors and attempted ideas. I wasn't a prime Nokia fan, but they had so many memorable ideas implemented. Sony too. And does anyone remember Siemens? They were the third major competitor in Europe. Speaking of Nokia, it felt like they were trying to innovate until their dying days, despite poor executive decisions that let them down. I mean, still nobody made a large sensor 40mpx camera phone apart from Nokia. And it was great, it was something interesting and exciting to see, even if I never got one. Speaking of camera, back in the days a camera on a phone was one of those crazy ideas. I remember that it surprised people, some were laughing at it. And playing with the flip phones felt like the coolest thing ever that led to so many overdramatic and cinematic conversation endings. *flip*.

LG is trying so hard, and their phones are better than Sony's, yet look how much they have progressed. Huawei is doing the best marketing second to Samsung, and they're nearly there to overtake Apple. Sony won't be able to compete with disappointing products. They advertised the XZs with 19% brighter and 50% less noise low light photos compared to the XZ. Guess what, GSMArena's testing showed the XZ do way better than the XZs in low light. Wth is that? They think anyone would buy that? From using the XZ, I can tell the reason enough to not get the XZ by camera alone - it doesn't live up to the expectation. 23mp yet takea worse than 0.3mp camera. Samsung is at least trying hard developing their inferior hardware, while Sony is fully confident that their superior hardware will do everything the best.

wow, can you remember Sony Ericsson. I can only remember Nokia as 1st camera phone which is not...that show how strong is Nokia marketing back in the days.

Samsung Galaxy S pre-orders are sold out every time, and this is in developing countries. So people willing to fork out thousands of dollars for a phone the have not even seen or touched in real life.

Back in the day, people were happy to see new thing and willing to line up to see it, but now, people only think a brand is good if the ad. is convincing and look cool, people won't be happy with new thing and called it gimmick unless their favourite brand make it, exmple: people willing to wait 3 days in the line just to buy a new iphone that came out.

When you have to put a very big screen, as few physical buttons as possible, a camera, and a bit of bezels, it gets hard to be creative. The size constraints don't help.

Some others (Siemens) had displays in 2-3 colors before, but the Ericsson T68 was the first with a full-color one. I had the T68i, actually I still have it somewhere. Used it for 3 years. But after I stopped using it, the battery has swollen so much that I can't close or use it any more. It was a great phone for that time.
Also, I tried the Nokia 7650 briefly. It was one of the first smartphones (Symbian) and sensational back then, although I was surprised by how big it was in real life.
I still have a Nokia 6600 too. The phone from the movie "Cellular". And my first smartphone. It probably still works. :-)

Damn, Sony phones back in the days are truly class leading. Now it's sad to see it succeeded by the underwhelming Xperia lineup. Who is their development team? Can I talk to them and tell them that they're not as good as they were before in the past? One of the best digital camera manufacturers and we're seeing their mobile division falling so easily and short compared to even the underdogs? Hard to admit as a Sony fan but this must be one of the most disappointing conflict I've ever heard in my entire life. Please Sony, prove to us you're not a failure. Don't succeed your greatful success in the past with these garbage activities. You can be better than you are right nlw if you would just want to
