AnonD-600584, 11 Apr 2017That only shows how dirty Apple play the monopoly. Poor thing. It's about demand and production. If they have to source 2 different modems because one company does not have enough, they need to make sure they operate at the same level so that customers do not see any difference when buying an iphone, whether they get an intel modem or a qualcomm modem.

Apple has always been the greedy company which look down to their customers but it won't last long. Samsung and Chinese manufacturer will soon challenge this greedy monster because they can now, and they should.
I can never forget how Apple keep their 16GB iphone option for years just to steal more money from their customer, apple doesn't give a tiny F about their loyal users, yet the users keep blindly defend apple (!?) Earlier Samsung may not be able to challenge Apple but since the S7 edge era, things have changed.

Clear warning for branded vendors and partners..Apple uses you like tissue paper...They only need unnamed Chinese OEMs who can churn out cheap stuffs while Apple imprint bitten fruit to sell it for 90% profit!! I don't want to end up feeding this ugly monster!!

I like Apple products but I hate Apple's business practices. They don't seem to care about anything except power and money.

raonaveen, 11 Apr 2017But every OEM use sony sensors far better than sony.Which is why the Xperia Z5 was ranked by DxOMark as the best camera phone of 2015, and every single smartphones with Sony sensors can do 960fps slow motion video, right?

Oh, may I forgot, Samsung actually felt the need of the sensor of the Xperia Z5 to be in the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge because of how good it was

NokiaBeast, 11 Apr 2017Pretty dumb. It's like Sony suing Samsung for not using the... moreExcept that Apple deliberately limit Qualcomm's modem full potential and purposely making it look inferior to Intel. The worst part is that Apple is threatening Qualcomm to keep it quiet. Apple dare giving the 'hush-hush' to Qualcomm? That is sign of corruption . SPILL THE BEANS QUALCOMM! Tell us everything bad Apple did to you!

Wait, they sue them over that? How a customer is supposed to know if it has Snapdragon modems or Intel modems? I mean, except from searching "how to identify your iPhone 7 modem" on Google. And throttling the performances is normal for companies.

Apple started this suing business first years back and I feel glad whenever someone sues them instead.

Qualcomm is afraid as every company is starting to produce their own chip. And rest are using mediatek.

What it doesn't say is that Qualcomm also charges based on sale price of the phone such that the charge is higher for a phone with a higher sale price. Go figure. At some point the patents expire and this all goes away.

Apples reply can be, OK no problem, we won't source modems from you anymore Qualcomm. Drops mike.

This is one cat fight for which the general consumer does not know or care. I guess this is where the engineers and lawyers get their panties in a wad.

                                      Well said and did Qualcomm

OK. As far as Apple deserve to be sued, this reasoning of Qualcomm is damn... ldiotic.

Its like Ford would sue Volvo for using their engines in older models, but not "unleash" their full Power...

Or keeping it in mobile market, its like Samsung would sue others for using their AMOLED screens but not with proper color reproduction, so it show Samsung in bad light for providing screens that doesnt use 100% of their potential...
