S8 should have been much more usable than 5.5 inch phones, but actually isn't, it's way too tall and actually less wide than S7edge meaning harder to type. Lol, Samsung fanboys.

Xiaomi and Sharp did it right. For example Sharp has/had a 5.5 incher smaller than many/most 5 inchers. That's incredibly useful because it allows one handed use on a screen size that is actually useful in the increasingly media heavy era we live in.
By contrast Samsung made one handed use impossible. It's now impossible to reach the top of the phone (notifications area) one handed without significantly and constantly changing the placing of your hand.

AnonD-106186, 14 Apr 2017wtf are u talking about?, if u drop the phone and it breaks... moreYes Of-course, we have to spend a lot for protecting the costliest phone. But still larger glass area w.r.to body is one of the main concern. Please look at the service centers that how many are struggling with broken display even after using the protectors you mentioned. We will not get back original performance even after spending huge money.
I am sure that this design will not be continued long.
One thing i like to say, everything will be fine in paper/appearence but performance and durability matters.

Because it's 2 miles way to the north. An elongated phone makes no sense. Do you even think? Unless you're constantly multitasking in everything else is worse. Like needing two hand to reach the notification area, like having big ugly bars when watch video...
A decisive step back. Ugly too.

Woow! I have never thought Korea was having so many ultra long fingered ladies (check out any Samsung, LG media, exhibition, advertisements, you will see models with so long fingers make the giant 5,5-6" screen phablet appear like a tiny S2, S3! I am a tall western guy (189cm) but my hand looks normal proportionally with normal finger lengths (I can handle the biggest basketball easily). But those ladies' fingers are really something else (like that of an alien!). Probably those weird 1:2 ratio phones are designed for them.
I checked out S8 & S8+ today. S8 seems somehow manageable but the width is too narrow (keyboard will become too narrow; like using a 5" regular phone). S8+ is better due to width than S8 but still narrower than regular Note series. But it is taller than any Note. It is like a TV remote. Too tall, slippery, tiny. It is just... Weird! It seems like old folded feature phones which becomes like big mackerel fish!

Anonymous, 14 Apr 2017Yes, but if they really wanted to be industry leaders they ... morereflect on total sales??? wtf are u talking about dude, Listen if u know anything about selling smartphones u wouldnt be talking this much shit, Apple for example do they go all out?, Do they always give the latest specs and innovation? Do they use removable batteries? So why are their phones selling more and topping Samsung? MARKETING and having the best mobile ecosystem(not a apple fanboy just used it as an example). Not alot of persons use removable batteries.

Anonymous, 14 Apr 2017When someone presents evidence he is not hating. The fact t... more"And while multitasking becomes better due to the longer screen, it does not see prime use. To boost a secondary feature -therefore- they harm a primary use (handling) as well as destroying big part of the screen real estate for lots of other uses (media, gaming). So not a good move overall"
That doesnt make any sense, as he said if u havent used the phone u wont know for sure, Samsung by making the screen narrower it is easier to hold in the hand, if it is too wide u might drop it if held in one hand, iphone 7 plus for example, it wont affect media or gaming are u even thinking? The screen is taller which means ur have enough room to move ur fingers all over the screen, with the curved edges(not as sharp as the s7 edge) many users have said that it feels much better in the hand. The curve edges and inifinity display allows for a immersive experience so watching videos will look better than ever, if u mentioned the glass back being easy to crack if dropped then yeah i agree but Samsung decided to go with that because of
1. Wireless Charging
2.Users wanting a premium design(Which equals too a non removable battery)
3. Better signal reception
