Anonymous, 23 Apr 2017You went in some random rant and complete dodged the point.... moreWhen they have full-access to the hardware, they calibrate screens for full sRGB coverage but white-point may be a little off (that's the variance you'll have to accept). That's nowhere near this issue!
What escapes me is how some people believe some blind (as in no access to hardware) software patch will do a "good job" recalibrating that screen to anything near acceptable photographic quality.... specially when the issue is already a severe misrepresentation of color -- as in red all over the place.
Sure, they can tone the red down and make it look "colorful" again (some people already have)... but the "blind" software patch cannot do it without leaving you with weird offsets (at best) or losing coverage (at worst), that would that proper calibration like it's done at factory.
And yes, there's proper calibration even for things half this price, live with it!

Which one of those screens is perfect? None.
Their white point is almost always to high or in some cases low. Though every once in a while it's near correct.
And their color balance if even correct at all is not 100% correct.
None of them are perfect

Anonymous, 23 Apr 2017And what other screen on a phone has perfect calibration?I know for a fact iPhones cover sRGB, being pretty confident Android flagships (who also have sRGB modes) also cover it near 100% or above. Manufacturers are touting improved cameras at each generation and people now do photography with this things. It's just silly to invest so much in cameras only to then put a screen that hinders the ability to use the camera to its fullest.

Tann Hauser, 22 Apr 2017Nah, that was last years batterygate. This is just confi... moreWhere is the batterygate in the last years? As i know only happened last year with Galaxy Note 7. Don't exaggerate, don't be a basher and don't defend your favorite brands like they were perfect, like Apple or Sony or even HTC. You know that there were cases of iPhones getting fire and exploding in the last years, please be quiet and calm down. The problem only happened in some defective unities of the Korean model.
