AnonD-627034, 28 Apr 2017"Samsung says nature of AMOLED displays causes red tint"...... moreRed led requires less voltage than blue and green. In low brightness, blue and green reach their threshold in their lowest voltage which accidentally shuts them but not the red one

xperience2305, 31 Oct 2017Nonsense. There is no "accurate" white other than white.Actually accurate white in real life is different than the accurate white in displays.
For displays the accurate white is D65 white in sRGB colorspace which may some times look yellowish in human eyes.

Also they more battery efficient than LCD's because they always need a backlight.

oled is overrated, i've have/had several devices (phones/tablets) with oled, and in my opinion they are very bad:
+ the only advantage for them is deeper black, and better contrast ( no, no infinite contrast, black is not true 0 black, but close)
+ they are thinner than LCD displays ->thinner phones/tablets
                - color reproduction is poor, images are over saturated not natural
                - color resolution is best at maximum brighness, al low or minimum brighness color resolution suffers a lot (you have like 4..5bit color resolution)
                - terrible ghosting effect at low brightness, dark scenes
                - screen burn effect, pixels age unevenly, in time, smooth gradients look like they have pixel noise in them mostly visible at low brighness, dark scenes

for @ KaneJ & Others - No , your not completely correct , LED whether PLS or IPS LCD have more realistic colours than OLED , yes but in all other parameters OLED is way ahead -

sAMOLED has way way better contrast ratio & way better sunlight legibility , higher colour gamut , saturated colours ( Some prefer it ) than LCD & more brightness than LCD infact LCD cant match in RAW brightness , thats because of poor contrast ratio & other factor.

AMOLED is like a candle wick , the chemical molecule will eventually degrade giving off colours , but most users wont notice the difference , this normally starts happening after 2 years of usage , unlike LCD which wont darken or lose colours as early & easily as the backlight has good life. The problem is users normally might view static content on mobile causing burn - in unlike in OLED TV's , in short no static means longer life ( Thats why we dont have OLED laptop / desktop monitors as wallpapers are static )

Anonymous, 28 Apr 2017Except it happens to ips too. And amoled has more accuracy ... more
IPS more natural/realistic colours, generally far brighter and better viewing angles.

Red/yellow and blue tint far less visible than AMOLED...

Anonymous, 29 Apr 2017It was just over 1000. Not 1300. That's exaggerated Right i think figure was 1100 + nits, basically they checked with one white dots, like home button unlike in gsmarena where they checked in broad sunlight, full screen with website on which came to max 647 nits. BTW "NATURE OF OLED DISPLAY" Next time it will be exploding s8 "nature of samsung"

                      - not that it will happen ;)

GSMArena in there review has removed the Myth of Max Brightness at 1300 nits to 647 nits in real life ( Thats an good improvement over 610 nits of S7 Edge ) , but not over inflated like on other websites , again for S8 samsung has put more Red Pixel in Matrix as called RedOLED display by Samsung , all is to increase life of sAMOLED display as Red LED dont burn faster , but the Constant Navigation Bar is going to burn in on S8 just like it did on Nexus Navigation bars including the constant ON Home BUtton of S8.
