I have the red tint. Its only on the edges of the phone, and only noticeable when I'm on a white background. It doesn't bother me much and I understand how OLED displays are manufactured so it's fine. But to the average consumer, this might not be okay

I love the comments stating that pure white is yellowish or whatever...there is no pure white. What we perceive as pure white is and always will be biased based on our eyes, and the normal offset of white we see...be it 4500K or 6500K, etc. blueish/ and yellowish are both correct in being pure white...its a matter of perception, not reality.
As for these reddish displays...yeah, it can be the nature of AMOLED...from the diamond pentile arrangement of pixels, its pretty easy to have slightly brighter red or blue pixels, if the display was green, id be more worried, as they are smaller in this configuration...that would mean a larger scale problem in the display (red/blue not getting bright enough etc.)

I understand you can decrease the red via Adaptive Display options. But what if I want to use AMOLED Photo or other display options? I'm stuck with a huge red shifted display so it effectively eliminates AMOLED display options.

Just curious...
If you look at the photo you see all devices are set maximum brightness.
It is kinda weak.
Is it how it looks really?

[deleted post]No need to defend Samsung because they're on the right. They literally released the best smartphone EVER and some people are still nitpicking to find flaws on it. Other smartphones probably have tons more problems but no one is talking about them because no one is using them.

It's a combination of all colors. Whites can either be red tinged, blue tinged or yellow tinged. We are just used to seeing blue tinged or colder whites and it is what we perceive as true or pure white but this is wrong. True white or "accurate white" is actually the one that is yellowish just like the iPhone 7 and S7 displays. The whites of most LCD screens are not accurate white at all. They are bluish whites.

Expecting the display color to be white out of the box ruin the purpose of providing the color slider. If Samsung could make the display white out of the box it wont have to provide the color slider at all in the first place. You see how that logic goes.

Read Displaymates technical review of the S7/S8 display. Yellowish white of AMOLED displays is the most accurate white, not the blue tinged white of Sony LCD phones.
