Its good that Samsung & Android fraternity keeps innovating new technology and doesnt matter when Apple copies them or vice versa! Ultimately its we the users who benefit from the fast pace at which smart phones are developing. If you look at the progress of smartphones especially since 2013, there has been tremendous growth on the technology front.

There will be a fingerprint reader in the screen, once the technology works. There won't be a "RIP iPhone", millions of people have bought iOS Apps, so they'll keep buying iOS devices.

Verizon told me that the Note 5 64GB was discontinued... 3 days before I bought one... from Verizon. Only believe half of what you hear from Verizon reps, and be suspicious of the rest.

Hope Sammy launches Note 8 but please do that with different build quality (no glass backs!) and hopefully dedicated sd card slot with dual sim and larger battery. Infinity display on S8 to be further bettered and yes fingerprint sensor on front side right on screen at bottom! A more powerful chipset to even better performance and ensuring no lags in opening apps and aid in better RAM management. All other things like headphone jack, type C fast charging & wireless charging to continue.
If these suggestions are read and implemented by Sammy management then its gonna be RIP - Iphones!

I see specs for a Note 8 on line w possible release in Sept. (?)
Verizon today told me the complete "Note Series" has been discontinued. Period.
They said that there are rumors that those on line are selling a redesigned Note 7 but it is not the real thing.
I have a Note 4 and was shut out of the Note 7 for obvious reasons. I was signed up to receive a blue Note 7 plus perks for signing up early. (Obviously did not get those either)
Sooo... Verizon's news and their pushing the Galaxy S8 seems suspect to me.. as in trying to get people into contracts for something before the Note 8 is released.
Help! Is there going to be a Note 8 and when/how can I pre-register to get one?

Absolutely well done to Samsung, of 2 points in this case: 1, that they will launch the Note 8 (thank God), and 2, because they are really realistic, and even publicly admit and warns of tougher competition ahead. Because in fact nowadays the competition is even much tougher than ever before. And not just from the regular usual top dogs, LG, HTC, Sony, Apple, Moto (Lenovo), Nokia (again), Google (Pixel), and all the Chinese one's, stable and flagship killers such as Huawei, Xiaomi, OnePlus, ZTE, Oppo, Vivo, Meizu, LeEco, Asus, etc, but there is even much much more new emerging brands. So in other words it is really tough for a company such as Samsung to stay at the top spot for a long time. But hopefully Samsung with the launch of the Note 8, will correct all the lacks and flaws of the S8, such as the: (1) fingerprint placement, (2) a dual camera setup, (3) a dual stereo speakers, (4) 6GB RAM, (5) absolutely finalize Bixby, or better nothing, (6) a bigger battery (although this last one, is the most unlikely, due to what happened). and perhaps even a little improvements such as a front LED flash and UHD/4k video, up from 2k (QHD). And if so? (Hopefully), then it will really deserve the nickname of "THE BEAST". Haha

I like the Note series. But as it looks, prices for mobile flagship phones are sky rocketing. Maybe the Note 8 will cost a thousand Euro. Is this still justified????

I would gladly still buy a Note7. I just really want a solid phone with a good stylus integration. Pixel or OnePlus phone with a pen would be pretty much exactly what I'm looking for.

Galaxy Note series are among of the best smartphone out there. I used Note 3, 4 and 5, they are awesome. I hadn't a chance to use Note 7 but am sure apart from explosion fiasco, they are still the beast.
Hope this Home coming of Note series will bring serious competition to phablet worlds, especially iPhone 7s plus/iPhone 8, LG V30 and others.
