Of course there won't be an iPhone 8 this year.
Any anniversary phone would be iPhone X, simply iPhone, or iPhone anniversary or perhaps iPhone 10, but then they would change their naming from now on, and there wont be an 8.
The anniverasy edition, might be just that a special edition of a normal iPhone, either Retro look, but then probably based on an updated iPhone SE. Or it will be a "7s" in premium material, perhaps sporting a Saphire glass. Perhaps with airpods in the package. Perhaps a Photobook featuring product photos of all iPhones, and perhaps other Apple products.
Releasing a device with a higher spec than this years normal iPhone would just not make sense. Then that would be the only iPhone people would like to have, and thus hurt the sales of "7s" badly.
So that bezelless OLED iphone, is either this years iphone or next years product.
Apple may hurry the release of the 2018 iPhone, if the bezelless design is planned for that device, as Apple don't want to fall behind. But as a 2017 special edition, it simply makes no sense at all.

You expect me to talk about every single iphone from the first to the 9th gens? I skip some. I know the year released too captain obvious. What I'm saying is that it took them like 3 years to put a fully functional camera. Too long in term of technological advancement and what already available at that time. Even iphone 4s in 2011 compare to the first Galaxy Note are such a big difference. Btw, SE in some countries only slightly cheaper than 6s. Around $50 difference not worth it.

Apple is always late to the market with tech. If everybody worked the way they do no new tech would ever make it out. Someone has to be the guinea pig and that means releasing something that can't be "mature".

Savor , 27 Apr 2017Maybe because you are too young, but the first iPhone wasn'... moreIt was crap, I actually was hyped when I got one... and I could not stop laughing after getting one especially that In the same time when it was available in my country, we had HTC Touch HD, that even it had annoying WM, was damn nice device, and then we had G1 and in 2009 we had really nice devices with android...
iPhone maybe had that capacitive touchscreen, but in terms of design and system it was not actually that great as young people think. We had before that those monolith-type form factor, starting from LG Prada ending in Samsung F devices(not to mention others) and in terms of system UI, it was not first device with "big simple icon style". Even SE P1i had such homescreen and it was from 2007...
