AnonD-291, 05 Apr 2011Some one asked what is the disadvantage of the 680 mHz proc... moreWe are not talking about the article itself so the topic has already been deviated.
I didn't said that 1080p is useless, I ask who need 1080p recording if a device capable of recording 720p produce much better results? Yeah, if N8 had a better processor maybe it could record 1080p, but as I've said, no other phone had 1080p recording when N8 launched on the market (in fact, not even today), so why you are bothering for that? If Nokia announced a Nokia N9 or something you could expect 1080p recording.
Advantages of the N8 recording I mean High dynamic range, dynamic lighting controlling (N8 is much faster and accurate that most phones when you change from lighting conditions), color fidelity, video-zoom and decent audio recording. Doesn't seem enough?
And HDR is NOT controled by software, it completelly depends of the sensor and lens power.
Sure you cannot record videos in absolute darkness with the N8 since it doesn't have a video light (but I wonder who want's HD video in complete darkness), however, flash light have limited range so don't expect that it will make it better than N8 when you are recording outsite on the night, there a couple of samples on youtube that proves that the N8 camera does a perfect job recording on such conditions. Oh, and I don't have a N8, I have a cheap mid-range C6-01 that even without N8 camera, probably kick the ass of the most camcorders on the market.

AnonD-3485, 04 Apr 2011It's so funny that you are saying that I am deviating from ... moreSome one asked what is the disadvantage of the 680 mHz processor (present in T7) which is well within the topic. So I answered the question using n8 merely as an example. And you suddenly start to compare n8 video recording with optimus 2x, which is a deviation from the topic.
Why do you need 1080p? Thats the question I expected from a Nokia fan boy. When Nokia phones have some feature you hail it supreme, conversely when it doesn't have something you say "who needs it". Its pathetic you don't see the waste of huge sensor and lens because its capable of shooting videos that have 225% as much detail as 720 p, yet Nokia let it down with slow processor.
The optimus 2x does manages 30 fps even on preproduction unit. "Advantages of n8" ? you mean like High dynamic range and low light video recording which you mentioned eariler? firstly HDR is a software part, so you cannot compare pre production unit (2x,sgs2 etc) to retail one (n8).
Maybe 2x doesnt have low light video capability but it can produce an external source of light for that purpose ! That means you it can even shoot videos in complete darkness which your n8 is can't.

this is fake definitely. china is known for imitations. they can copy nokia's interface, but functionality sucks, especially the camera - 8mp but with visible noise.
noticed that there is a sticker at the back of the phone stated "NOKIA NSERIES" well i suppose u shd have seen the "T" initial in front. how do they explain this.

the usb port on this looks dodgey, and has a phillips head screw next to it
that really isn't a nokia thing to do
I'm fairly doubtful that this is a genuine nokia.
might be a chinese knock off of the n8

AnonD-291, 04 Apr 2011oh yeah, thats another fanboy tactic: deviate from the topi... moreIt's so funny that you are saying that I am deviating from the topic when the article is not about the N8 or its hardware limitations. Such hipocrisy.
Yeah, the N8 camera is perfect for record 1080p videos. The hardware is limited for that? Maybe. But which phone had better HD recording skills or even """Full HD""" recording when N8 was launched? So, what is really your point? Why do you need 1080p recording if it's poor and a phone capable of 720p recording is MUCH better? Oh, yeah. Numbers.
Also, did you ever seen the video-zoom of all S^3 phones, that you can Zoom in without stretching the image?
Lol, wider lens? Even if it's true, does that make a better camera? Smoother 720p recording? Maybe, it's 30FPS vs 25FPS, but I wonder if the Optimus 2x can really reach the 30FPS mark on all conditions just like N8 can, not to mention that if you really need 30FPS, there are number of mods and apps that let you do that. Oh, and I guess I already mentioned all the other advantages of the N8 video-recording abilities.

[deleted post]oh yeah, thats another fanboy tactic: deviate from the topic !
who the hell is talking about optimuses, its video recording, audio quality, etc ??
The point I'm making is that n8 with its lens and sensors is perfectly capable of full HD video recording but is held back by its poor, generations old CPU! (the fact which you conviniently overlook)
ok anyway since you mentioned optimus 2x, let me tell you it a wider lens and has a smoother 720p recording than n8 even in a preproduction unit.

who asked you to watch 1080p on a 3.5" screen ?? i thought n8 had hdmi to watch it if you could record at that resolution but unfortunateley you cant.
yeah there is more to video than spacial resolution but thats not my point. My point is that although n8's camera is perfectly capable of recording full HD videos, it cant do that
because of internal hardware limitations.

And I guarantee you, the 720p recording from N8's sensor will look superior to whatever your typical cell phone can muster at 1080p. Again, if you knew anything about video, you'd know there's a lot more to it than spacial resolution.

the processor actually offloads portions of of it to the gpu for faster and efficient processing. a gpu is of no use without a processor.
your n8 soesnt need a 1ghz processor ? them im sure you also dont need 1080p video recording, playback, faster browser better quality games and things like that.

Your whole 660mhz argument is pointless because the N8 doesn't need a 1+ GHz cpu. And I'll take the 3 day battery life as a bonus, compared to whatever you've got.

AnonD-5357, 04 Apr 2011People are Dissn' Nokia for not using faster processors. W... moreGenerally, a faster processor would drain more battery. But with advance technology, new generation processors consume less batteries with faster cpu. More or less, Nokia should make phones with more RAM as its important for amooth gaming and web browsing experience. The faster cpu allows efficient multitasking. Nevertheless, Nokia make great hardware, now they need better chips and user interface. Hopefully their next N series may bring them back to their "A" game.
