Looks like this is the phone that SONY fans have been waiting for. Specs look great, and so does the SONY classic design language. Love the mirror back. Stunning, unusual, and beautiful....a real attention grabber in a sea of ho-hum designs. But rumor has it that the price will be too high to knock down Samsung or Apple newest offerings. I think SONY should do the following:
    1) put the fingerprint scanner on the US model.
    2) Offer a dual-sim version in the US.
    3) dump 4K because it's basically worthless fluff that only pumps up the price. OLED would be better and more competitive.
    4) Dump the feature that allows you to put dinosaurs in your pictures. Worthless.
    5) dump the PlayStation remote controller. Worthless. PlayStation all has its own controller.
    6) Give it the MOAB (Mother Of All Batteries)..4000 would squash everything else on the market.

If SONY would remove these worthless features, focus on the most important aspects of a flagship phone, and give us a more price-competitive product, they may actually be able to compete with Apple or Samsung with this phone.

SONY also needs to advertise the hell out of this phone, especially on TV here in the US if they are really serious about selling it in big numbers. And why don't they sell it on their own website?, and offer a first-class world-wide warranty that is honored at any SONY authorized repair center, not only just in the country of purchase.

SONY has a lot to learn about marketing, and they had better learn it pretty quick. Time is clearly running out for SONY mobile division. All by their own hand.

First time I am pre-ordering a phone. I'm not bothered about the screen ratio of 69 percent that is good enough although it is shame it is not around the 75 percent mark but it is a minor drawback. motion eye camera with 960 fps in 720p, the quality stereo speakers and the HDR 4K screen is why I'm interested in this phone. Only thing I'm a little worried about is the battery life. We shall see.

The built-in memory card slot is way too slow, actually Sony has never changed it. Also it's only 5.5inch screen, but the border is so thick and the whole phone is way too long.

I'm due for an upgrade with the G6 top of my list. However i am not a big fan of the bezel-less, sterile look that seem to be all the range with 2017 flagships. I like Sony's attempt at retaining some for of design aesthetic, though i think there is too much wasted space at the front..which could be used to stretch the display to an ideal 5.7". I'm also not a fan of the glass, mirror look which makes the phone look nasty all the time with it attracting dirt and fingerprints. For now it's a toss up between Sony and LG for me.

Which is unfair and not clearly advertised....
They want to sell as much as those since the more demand is as usual on the Dual Sim version....

Once they have the Dual Sim version available for Pre Order I will surly order for myself and family....

with the black market version, at least you can bring it to singapore for proper service (or claiming your warranty).

Pre-order: you really really want to have it reserving one for yourself because you want to be among the first.
Will buy when available: means you want it but not super into it, you are still open to other options.
Other Sony phones: means you are seriously considering other options.
Not buying: you don't like it.

It's a good device, but there's some areas it just doesn't do well:
1 - Price. It's okay, but damn is it hard to justify next to iPhones, Galaxys, and OnePluses.
If it undercut the flagship rivals by $100, it would definitely seem more enticing.
2 - Bezels. Damn only 64% Screen to Body, where competitors are hitting 83% StB.
3 - Battery life. It's slightly below average, like ~4hrs Screen on Time, or ~80hrs GSMArena endurance rating. They should've upped the battery capacity to 4,000mAh to combat the battery life drain, because the LCD is beginning to show its limitations next to current AMOLED displays.
4 - Button placement/ergonomics. While it'll sound like I'm grasping straws but I really hate having the headphone jack on the top/away from the USB-C port. Its bad for docks or car connection cables. And I hate that the Power button is below the Volume Rocker, causing accidental presses a sure thing, its what the Nexus 5X/6P got right. I would also move the front camera to the top-right side, again for better dock ergonomics. And move the LED flash to the left of the lens, making the top-side of dark photos more lighter than the bottom or the sides, this gives the illusion of natural light/sun which is much more professional for shots. The fingerprint reader is okay though.
5 - If I could add an "X-factor" it would probably be a FREE and decent quality VR Headset with EVERY purchase. This is what the 4K screen will take most advantage of, and so SONY should play to its strengths. And to take it further beyond, a slim kickstand (a la HTC HD7/HTC EVO Sprint) will make this a real Media Power House with its display and frontal-stereo speakers. Finally, a lanyard hole at the bottom-right next to the USB-C would be a cheap and appreciated feature to implement.
