Hopefully this catchup from Microsoft won't discourage Google. Besides, notice how Micosoft is best at catching up - that they have not ever had one genuine idea themselves and if not for Google then the world would still be running IE6, have no cloud, no search, no maps, etc and wait an eon for Windows to start. Competition at work.

AnonD-569432, 02 May 2017 so "S"stands for students ??Well, it could be sh!t if it is like RT or end up like RT.
If every pc device ( start from tablet, 2in1, laptop, desktop, all-in-one, etc etc.) can install windows 10 ( the full version) and are able to run, why would people want/need to get a S version?
I'm currently using a tablet that was windows 8 to begin with, and later on upgraded to Windows 10. I can use it just fine, and I can occasionally install some software that isn't from coming from the windows 10 app store.

Number 1: How come everyone thought it was going to be called Win10 Cloud but GSMArena? That's weird.
Number 2: This offer might actually interest my school that has Win7 Pro. However we use some Win32 apps.

But considering that now Chrome OS has Google Play Store , then Windows 10 S looks like a bad joke, Chrome OS is faster, lighter, simpler (Microsoft can't make something which isn't as complex as possible), free (which in turn makes devices with it cheaper) and with a lot more apps available. From personal experience Chrome OS is heaven for people which use laptops mostly for browsing the web, watching movies, doing text documents, presentations or want to use Android apps.(optional: you can install Windows 10 or any Linux distro for more complex things)

It took 2 years only to be stable in real sense of the word("stable" is a misuse for anything before Windows 10 Anniversary update)... After all we talk about Microsoft

well..lower pc just use x86 it can also use for education..why should people care about booting speed..if its takes more than usually then it must be something problems..microsoft should speed up upgrade speed thats the real wasting of time.

AnonD-596087, 02 May 2017Only apps from the store? So essentially a kind of reboot to RT?No, unlike RT, "S" can run win32 apps.
But to do so, developers have to wrap the software with UWP and distribute them via the Store.. yes it's a bummer
It's Microsoft version of Chromebook

It would serve much better to improve Windows to a much faster and fluid experience.
