The car won't move if it is open.. Simple as that.. What's better is they should make the whole car a faraday cage.. So that once you got into the car you are always offline

I have a prototype for you, it's called "brain". Use it and >I< will live longer. I get into dangerous situations every day, since I drive alot of bike where cars can barely stop in front of me. I had alot of situations where the driver was on the phone...now I am an ugly oldish guy, but just imagine I was one of your kids...you want them to be run over because someone was sending emojis while you were driving? No? Then use "brain" today!

Most users will be surprised of a little battery left at the end of the trip. If the driver has the guts to put the smartphone in the cage, it is easier to just press airplane mode and save battery life and his life.

It is a prototype idea and I like it. It is an option, like leather or another trim, that some can choose to have and some not. In these days where everything is tracked and there are no removable batteries, put the phone in the cage and you are no longer tracked. Works for EZPass and other things that you can be monitored on without your knowledge.

The best usecase of the faraday cage is to protect the electronic devices from the EMP of a nuclear bomb.

I think that the device it's a quite extreme solution to the texting while driving issue and even more when you take into account the many option currently available in most cellular devices. I think that people just have to understand the danger that is texting and driving.

This is unnecessary. I would agree to for a software that somehow disable SMS when on the phone.
Or perhaps an AI that reads the SMS, and do the texting for you without even touching the phone ( don't know if it already exist or not).

User: "AI" (whatever it will be called) "read text/sms
AI: AI will give the info about the sender and the message. Then option to reply or not.
                          User: if yes, "message.

                          Something like that.
                          I watch SciFi movies. LOL

Install an eye movement detection camera in the driving wheel. If it shows you are not looking in driving direction then turn on hazard lights, car horn and slowly cut the speed down until eyes are pointing in correct direction again.
Works for everything: falling asleep, texting, hart failures, etc.
Use a penalty payment related to income if driving without eye detection, use the money for safty research.

As the article quite rightly concludes - most sensible solution to this is Samsung's S Bike Motion mode or similar equivalent that automatically reacts when it senses you're in motion. Some people due to their career spend a lot of time in vehicles and need to make / accept hands free calls etc. Address the issue - don't ignore it.
Is it me or are all Nissan vehicles fugly?

Why dont make a box to store note7, so car dont get fire if not note7 blow up

Why not use voice recognition? Or Bixby :) . Solution shouldn't be turning off your phone but to turn on some (futuristic) feature instead. This definitely won't help their sales, but its great way to get useless attention, so you see they have no real solution.
