A Faraday cage from which neither a tweet nor a status update may escape.

As soon as it connects to my car's Bluetooth car kit, it disables all notifications except for incoming calls. You can still use all the texting functions of the phone (not ideal), but you aren't bothered with notifications (either sound, vibration or banners). Added bonus is that the phone can be set to automatically respond to all text messages from your contacts with a reply text indicating that you are busy driving.

Quite pointless. If you can put it in the box, you can quite easily take it out again. Flight mode is not the answer as you could miss emergency calls. I guess the best solution will be software-wise. If your phone knows you are driving - like using navigation - then it should block you using it. Or maybe the phone should be disabled (apart from answering calls) when hooked up to the car via bluetooth - the car should be able to communicate with the phone to say when it is stationary or moving.

because in these times of stupidity, they can make a lot of money out of fools by selling them a box with aluminium walls (check what a faraday cage is and build you own for very little money)

A useless idea. Does that mean that all drivers in the world, must purchase one of these cars? What about the millions of cars that people already drive?

If you have self-denial to put your phone in that case, you have self-denial to just dont pick your phone without spending money on such hideous box...

The best thing to do is to make it mandatory that all vehicles are equipped with a feature similar to this that stops all wireless signals to and fro the whole vehicle when not stationary with the engine off. Its a hassle but will save countless lives.

Really good idea, I wish all public transports use Faraday cage.
People will be more social, and more aware of their surroundings.

The only way to fight texting while driving is have some type of tech built into cars that disable cell phone texting while driving. How it began once the car is in gear have it send out a pulse or some kind of signal to all phones in the vehicle that disables texting. I know I know it will piss off the passengers but really who gives a s***.
