AnonF-653909, 05 May 2017Well its a nuisance to carry wired headsets with you when y... moreYou forget that this 3.5"jack is not only used for headphones!
As Xdadevet already mentioned. That jack is currently the no. one universal audio-connector in the world. It's reliable, sturdy and has good quality (depending on the audio-circuitry used in your device). Why remove that one universal standard. It took years to FINALLY get a universal audio-connector and a universal charging connector (micro-USB). Why turning the clock back for a lousy few cents profit.

Jim, 04 May 2017I've used the headphone USB c adaptor on my iPhone 7 it has... moreEdit: Sorry, I read that wrong.
Audio quality in your case should be identical, because it is still using analogue audio out. That means whether you use the 3.5mm jack, lightning, or USB type C, they all are connected to the same part of your phone that delivers the same audio signal processed by the same DAC included in the phone. Converting between the three standards in your case is nonsensical.
The best way to explain what is happen is this:
Lets sy lightning has 15pins. Pin 3,4,5 is used for audio.
And USB type C has 20 pins. Pin 10, 11, 12 is used for audio.
And the 3.5mm jack only has 3 pins. 1, 2, 3.

AnonD-94869, 04 May 2017The advantage of headphones with lightning or microusb-c ja... moreYour argument is half true.
USB type C supports power delivery to peripherals while simultaneously streaming audio meaning that it can power bigger headphones.
But you are forgetting the fact that the 3.5mm jack can supply just as easy power those headphones - the pre-amp (which is usually excluded from smartphones) just needs to be in the phone itself.
Think about it this way: At the end of the day your headphones are driven by thee wires, (ground, L, R) no matter what you have in between your phone and your headphones. And everything up until that point can be in the phone itself, and delivered by the 3.5mm jack. The only exception is noise cancellation where there are mics included at both earpieces of the headphones, as it needs to feed back into the phone to process the adjustments before delivering the "corrected" audio.
The thing is, you can still use USB type C audio on a phone that has a 3.5mm jack for those times you're using an external DAC/Pre-amp/Noise cancelling headphones. But for the rest of the time there is a multitude of advantages for using the 3.5mm jack, such as reducing cable/port strain, being compatible with all current market products, being omnidirectional, lower cost, having audio while using your USB port, etc.

Killer-0, 04 May 2017Just give a few years and no phone company will use micro U... moreDid you even read my comment? You didn't adress any of the points I made. I couldn't care less if Micro USB dies, in fact I'm in favour of it.
But the 3.5mm jack is still the undisputed universal audio interface, and good reasons (see my previous comment you clearly failed to read).
You having blind faith in a brand for a phone that doesn't even exist yet is hardly a valid argument.

Anonymous, 05 May 2017If v20 has excellent battery life, it would be the best of 2016.My LG V20 has about the same battery life as my S7 edge. It is the BEST to me from 2016. Not as laggy and not as annoying to type on thanks to enough side bezels and flat screen. I really don't care for the water-resist.
Actually, my G5 is still more favored than my V20 but only slightly because I like the 25% louder external speaker, smaller form factor, and slightly smoother UI experience. But V20 is right up there. Higher than the overrated S7 edge.

These days flagships have superior audio to majority of stand alone players of the last decade, including iPods. There is nothing wrong with using a phone as an audio player and apart from how loud can it get I bet it'll be hard for about anyone to tell a difference between a Galaxy which comes with a Woflson DAC or a high end stand alone player, simply because it doesnt get much better than the former. And yeah the day all smartphones have headphone jacks removed is the day I stop buying smartphones. Wireless headphones are an abomination.
