Unfortunately HTC, following Apple won't earn you any more profits.
No headphone jack, no phone for me, no matter how perfect it is. I imagine many would agree the same applies to them.

Stupid decision to remove the 3.5mm jack. Is there even one advantage?

AnonD-94869, 04 May 2017Louder than Nokia N91 is the new hi-res portable player Fii... moreI use a Fiio X1 2nd gen as my daily driver for music - due to budget reasons, I couldn't afford to buy the X7 or X5. And I do have a phone with a 3.5 mm jack, OP3. Removing the jack does affect the vast majority of smartphone users. True audiophiles however, will always use a dedicated player. I don't consider myself an audiophile, but the OP3 is average when it comes to headphone output, in both quality and volume, and I can notice that. Going with the OP3 and Fiio X1 combo was much cheaper than buying let's say a Galaxy S7 or an HTC 10. Downside? I gotta carry 2 devices with me. Upside, like you said, I can keep the X1 until it dies on me, many years from now, and not care whether my next phone has a jack or not.
Peace!

What a waste of space... Again
Why htc.. You are currently digging up your own grave
Ps.. If you care about technology.. You are probably not the target market for this phone.. Oh wait.. Those younglings will choose iPhone instead

My suggest for htc:
Created new port beside USB port exclusively for headphone plug (it has need to new design for plug in headphones) I mean new generation of headphones with micro USB plugs

There is a chance the Google Pixel 2 will lack headphone jack which is why I picked up the first Pixel which has become one of my favorite phones ever. Still has the headphone jack. Had to also pick up the LG V20 if LG decides to go sealed battery with its successor.
2016 had better phones.

No b4 headphones can replace wired headp... moreI totally agree with you on the 3.5 mm jack. Normally, you only show favor for Sony products and thus seem to get in fist-fights with your fellow commentators, but for this comment I totally side with you. :D
(I love all good products by the way :P, check out my favorites http://www.gsmarena.com/user.php3?idUser=632062)

No b4 headphones can replace wired headp... moreagreed 100%, if they are going to remove the 3.5mm jack, REPLACE it with something equivalent, if not better. simply removing it is only stripping functionality away from a device, and adding NOTHING, considering BT still exists on devices WITH a 3.5mm jack, weird right? Same with USB...man, that's strange...
Give the consumers something better, if you need space, innovate, talk with other OEMs, develop a smaller mobile port that takes up less space in your devices, but is durable, and gives the same functionality if not better DACs as the 3.5mm jack, and for a bit provide backwards compatibility (an adapter). Then who knows, it could take off as a new standard audio jack.

Killer-0, 04 May 2017Just give a few years and no phone company will use micro U... moreAre you serious?
No b4 headphones can replace wired headphones... matter of practicality, no recharging headphones being the most practical aspect, more durable connector 3.5 is... usb c is much more prone to wear and tear
And adapters are the worst case scenarios here.
If at the end insist on that nonsense of removing 3.5...at least give a dedicated usb c for usb headphones.... thats a minimum.
And overall removing 3.5 mm jack trend and not offering acceptable substitute is seriously ridiculous, dont think even apple will hold on long on that.

Killer-0, 04 May 2017Just give a few years and no phone company will use micro U... moreyou obviously don't know how these work then. With USB based headphones, a digital signal is sent out, raw data, thereby the phone itself has to do nothing special, other than send regular data signaling. The quality of the audio in this case is NOT from the USB, but from whatever USB headphones you buy and the DAC (Digital-Analog Converter) inside them. Or in the case of the 3.5mm to USB adapter, whatever DAC is inside it. 3.5mm is analog only signaling, meaning the phone needs a DAC built into the port, which some phones like the mentioned Nokia N91 and LG V series have done in spades. So no, USB sound isn't great at all, because there isn't any.

Xdadevet, 04 May 2017They didn't remove the Micro USB port, they upgraded it. US... moreJust give a few years and no phone company will use micro USB anymore, there are adapters if you want use 3.5mm headphones, there are also reliable Bluetooth headphones out there, people always complaining, I f you want the greatest quality sound in a mobile phone, go for HTC U 11, I trust them, never lay me down, if they release 40 million phones at the end will be sold out each one of them. so this is no a delaer breaker. once you try it you wont come back to 3.5mm. type C best quality sound, period.
