It can easily burn a 32 ohms headphones after 60% of volume and can drive 150-300 ohms headphones. It is pure power. Insane !! And the advantage is being just a player, you can keep it 10 years without any problem. Phones changes and die much faster

dankname, 04 May 2017Imo, USB headphones are superior in every way, except the f... moreimo if they want to replace the 3.5mm jack, it needs to be done in a fashion that keeps at least most to all functionality, including the ability to charge while listening, and the ability to continue to use 3.5mm headphones, like the adapter here. if the argument to rid the 3.5mm jack is space, then we should work towards a smaller form factor, either analog (there are 2mm or less out already) or digital (micro usb-c?) to replace it. Not removing a port altogether that is utilized by a large consumer base. The usb-c charging port doesn't fully keep functionality (the adapter will need to have a decent to hi-fi DAC, and you cant charge.). Bluetooth also doesn't fully keep functionality, as signals are compressed, lowering quality, requiring batteries for the headphones, as well as premium pricing, pairing issues, etc.

There simply isn't a great enough alternative right now.

Imo, USB headphones are superior in every way, except the fact that you cant charge your phone while playing music. After getting bored of listening, you would just leave your phone on the couch anyway, so why not plug is back in?
The 3.5mm jack belongs to the past, imo.
Headphones today have integrated DACs or amplifiers that get powered through USB, so you wouldnt have to buy batteries.
Anyway, compare multiple pair of headphones.
Ask your friends to give you some of their headphones to test them, USB and 3.5mm jack.
From what i've tried so far USB sounds better.

Also check out LeEco's headphones. They look promising. Their CLDA USB-C headphones are pretty cheap (around 35$) and have built in decoders for Hi-Fi music (24bit/96khz).

                  Worst move ever

If we using adapter and plug in our 3.5mm earphones, does the audio quality going down or stay the same?
If it deliver the same quality why are you people crying like a babies?? lol.

How about HTC and Sony collaborate together to make a very powerful device?
They seemed to have the potential to bring the heat to Samsung and to everybody else

Or what about HTC reach out a company in Taiwan just like Nokia reached by HMD of Finland?

My most-awaited collaboration is from Nokia and Sony, but will likely to happen since HMD takes control of the whole Nokia already

AnonD-150040, 04 May 2017No one cares HTC. Even HTC run iOS in their phones, no one cares.Yeah right! Even if they totally remove their whole company completely still nobody cares.

galaxyS7, 04 May 2017What about LG V20?...Htc 10 is a better option for music on headphones than Lg V20. Htc 10's hp amplifier is the most powerful amplifier ever on a mobile phone. And power counts when you want to open high grade audiophile 150 ohms headphones

                              The next HTC flop..
As usual reviews will be good, but it won't sell very well..

Anonymous, 04 May 2017Apple say future is wireless. The dongle has nothing to ... moreNo, the future is having choices where you can choose between using wireless or wired sound or whatever that suits us users best.

Removing choices and features from smartphones is not the future, because if you are going to remove tons of features and to make the phones simpler to build, then it will ends up being a dumb phone in the end.

                                Who want's that?

Anonymous, 04 May 2017Apple say future is wireless. The dongle has nothing to ... moreI think you're missing the point
They have that *courage* motto of the iPhone 7/7 Plus, so if they are really heading to future, they should've started that completely by offering wireless charger in place of wired charger and those AirPods in place of EarPods and no dongle stuff whatsoever needed. Most, they shouldn't have any ports at all - that's if they truly believe that wireless is the future

The greatest HTC device ever built for me was the HTC One M8. They never really hit the ground running since. And this approach is going to hurt. Especially after that Ultra fail.

This video was originally made towards Apple. But it seems like HTC has to see the same video now, because there is no excuses to remove a highly used feature like a 3.5mm headphone jack that everyone uses all the time every day and doesn't change it out with something better.

                                      Here is the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzf9R-wNRhY

It would be fine to remove the 3.5mm headphone jack if you HTC would put 2x USB Type-C ports on the phone. That's fine, but when you can't even be bothered to do that, then yeah.

HTC, listen. First you are dying out because no one want's to buy your phones anylonger, because you just started to copy Apple by removing highly used stuffs from your phones that NO ONE have asked you to remove. Because if your customers don't asks you to remove it, it means they are using it and likes it.

And then you expect to sell better?

                                      I mean, come on.

HTC what's that? Is it eatable? Why are there references of it in technology forums?
