CAMAROMANIAC3, 08 May 2017You are very unfortunate with the mi4i. That's probably the... moreYeah, mi4i is really neglected by Xiaomi. For battery endurance, it last long when my phone was new, but now the battery like going very fast, sometimes i just browse facebook or instagram (not continuously, and just browsing for 10minutes) , the battery can drop from 100% to below 60% in less than 2 hours. And yet, the software is really unstable, because even Xiaomi own proprietary apps like file explorer also force close everytime, clock no respond when switching on alarm after clearing cache in xiaomi cleaner which was not an issue b4 miui 8.2, and sometimes overheat too. Mayb i should try out custom rom, but those rom are occasionally even more unstable than miui, and yet camera quality drop a lot vs miui

CAMAROMANIAC3, 08 May 2017I really don't get what you are talking about. I play a lot... moreWith all due respect what I mean is after updating my redmi note 3 from MIUI 8.1.6 to 8.2.2 and do a factory reset and NOT INSTALLING ANY THIRD PARTY RUBBISH APP AND LEFT THE PHONE UNUSED FOR SEVERAL HOURS (cut off all connections), my redmi note 3 drown 3 percent per hour and the phone feel hot. If you still dont understand what I say either you so stupid or something else.

Phone Guy, 05 May 2017When are we getting Xiaomi in America? I know we can import... moreAs far as I know the MI max has a very wide frequency coverage. You could ask your operator what frequencies they use and check if the device supports them. If it does, go ahead and buy one from ebay or something. One thing tho, their cameras might be a let down.

No name, 06 May 2017Android version update is important for security and yes, i... moreYou are very unfortunate with the mi4i. That's probably their most neglected phone. I'd recommend looking into custom roms if you really need an upgrade. And as for MIUI being not optimised, Well I use the redmi note 3 pro (since miui 7), and it has come a very long way with MIUI 8. I mean, I'm getting near flagship levels of battery endurance and reasonable RAM management for less than one fourth the price. I see no reason to complain. And as for the lack of updates, they are a relatively new company that has a huge number of device models (that bit was poor planning on their part), sells them for dirt cheap prices and runs a very heavily customized UI. It takes a while to develop and optimize a UI like that for so many different devices and you cant really blame them for ignoring one that is not very popular.
I bought this phone as a temporary because my nexus 5 died out of nowhere (used that for about 3 years). And I'm actually planning to get a xiaomi flagship as my next phone.

Seeker of Truth, 05 May 2017MIUI sucks. Personally I own one Xiaomi phone, Redmi Note 3... moreI really don't get what you are talking about. I play a lot of heavy games on my phone (real racing 3, minecraft pocket edition - with 128x textures and battle bay). I usually get 5hrs30mins of screen on time (max brightness+ wifi+no battery saver+gps+sync) (I have clocked 8hrs multiple times - only wifi + auto brightness + battery saver). And even on hot days (ambient temp 30-32 degree Celsius) I have to play for a little more than an hour for the phone temp to reach 45-48 decree celcius. Yes, I use the latest 8.2.2.0 stable.
I'd say you have some rouge app that's causing your phone to overheat (maybe a third party app market, or an improperly modded game, etc).

Apps will continue to update and compatible with latest OS version, some apps may not backward compatible with older OS. If android version is not important, what is the point that Google working on new version android every year. Miui optimised? It's the biggest joke i heard so far, say this until u use Xiaomi, and without android.os update

MIUI sucks. Personally I own one Xiaomi phone, Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon version. After update the latest MIUI 8.2.2.0 rom my phone battery drains so fast and overheat even not use the phone for several hour. After done the factory reset the problems become worse. No choice but to downgrade to the previous MIUI 8.1.6.0 then the problems gone. Dont want to update the MIUI except its have a good review for other user.

Xiaomi changes almost everything in the android. And you will never have problems because of the android version like apps incompatibility or smth like that. Who is really interested in how miui works, I suggest to find some information and read it. People just can't get it. In every article about xiaomi or miui there are a lot of people complaining about xiaomis android version, but nobody knows what are they speaking about... And yes, I think it would be much easier to just update the android version instead of creating and optimazing your almost own os.

Wait what? They removed the Split-screen API form Nougat off their Nougat-based MIUI? Who would so such evil thing? I won't ever tolerate such behavior. Even if they were in sale here, I'd never buy one or ever recommend it to anyone. Removing APIs is just not right. Adding some is excellent (Samsung and LG), keeping it as stock as possible is also excellent (Moto, well until the ZUK UI will get into those, ''thanks'' Lenovo) but removing is just no.

Are they also going to add new features like ''Calling'', Mobile Data connection or just a capacitive touchscreen? Anyway anyone has a serial cable so I can connect this on my Windows ME computer? Bluetooth 1.0 is just very slow. Next time I'm getting a PDA with Microsoft PocketPC 2003. Those at least have an IR port. But I'm also considering a Zune. It looks promising!

Point is, you aren't spoiled for choice when you are shopping for a sub $250 flagship. At least Xiaomi has polls on it sites on what to include in their next flagships.

Do I want an SD slot and removable battery on my Mi 5? Yes and not really. But there are just three phones in this category (Zuk Z2, LeEco Le Max 2) and they don't have it either.
