Sir Wills , 05 May 2017Sorry mate I like your list but I can't agree with some of ... moreI can't consider this year as a "pinnacle of innovation" either but I find the 2:1 (18:9) aspect ratio change a big one. And can't blame LG for relying on the "old" 821 chipset because they had to redesign the G6 fron cero after the G5 failure. The needed to focus their efforts in other aspects. It's not a bad phone and a good point to work from (personally, I prefer the cameras and software from LG than those from Samsung). On the other hand, Samsung made superb phones last year with the S7 line up and needed some "game changer" for this year. The S8 devices have a big improvement on the quality of the displays but not in terms of ppi.

I commend Sammy for doing the right thing..recalling all those devices, figuring what the problem was and trying to recoup some of the lost revenue by reselling them after rectifying the problem. I just hope the problem is no more..even though the battery is a little smaller now.
What i am looking for from Sammy (or any other OEM) is a good 16:9AR 5.7">

Sir Wills , 05 May 2017My point is this : Galaxy S7 edge 579 ppi on 5.5 screen ... moreThat is true, but I don't think at that pixel density it is very clearly noticeable.

Galaxy S7 edge 579 ppi on 5.5 screen
Galaxy S8 570ppi on 5.8 screen
Galaxy S8+ 529ppi on 6.2 screen
How come the bigger screens have less? Which is means there stretching the pixels to cover which means ultimately a loss in clarity. It may not be noticeable that I don't disagree but a it's a slow slide downhill and is not pushing the boundaries for this year as you claimed.
Surely there should be a higher pixel rating for a bigger screen?
Anyhoo I'm hoping the Note 8 will have a 4K HDR screen just like the best screen on the market at the moment which is on the XZ PREMIUM.

Sir Wills , 05 May 2017Sorry mate I like your list but I can't agree with some of ... moreWorse*
(Sorry - felt bad to do it)
Actually made a funny mistake because G6's partner is the V30 and not the V20 lol, sorry about that.
In between SD821 and SD835, the processor is just about 15% boost in performance and 20% in power efficiency, and you do get BT 5.0 (which probably will only work with the same technology version) and 1Gbps Download speeds (would be better if your Internet Connection provider would really take full use of that). Other than those, they are just nothing new to it. I would agree with that if SD821 vs SD835 was a night and day of difference like the SD810 vs SD820.
Samsung seemed to be messing up this time though.
S7/S7 Edge was the last flagship phone they've made with no such quality issues, at least yet.
They fixed one issue, then introduced 4 new ones. But while the screen decreased in ppi, the resolution remains the same because it's just a few pixels lost and not like will make everything look pixelated. Besides, HDR10 came along with it, with improved color accuracy, contrast ratio, and color gamut, which are all far more important than ppi alone.
I also do hate anyone removing the glory hole (I mean that 3.5mm one) but they get the credit for making such good phones for good price. Still won't get it, but I can be happy with any phone after all

2017 year of innovation we hope!
LG G6 with 2016s SD821 processor........They are nearly trying to give these phones away!
Galaxy S8 and S8+ worser ppi than S7edge and badly located fingerprint sensor, Although I have to say gorgeous looking phone.
Discount all the phones on your list that have removed the 3.5 jack as that's not innovation at all........

2017 is indeed a very exciting year - this may be another pinnacle of innovation after 2014
Galaxy S8 / S8+ / Note 8
LG G6 / V20
Xperia XZs / XZ Premium
Mi 6 / 6 Plus
HTC U 11
Nokia 8 / 9 *not sure what the flagship's name will be*
iPhone 7s / 7s Plus / X
OnePlus 5
Pixel 2 / Pixel XL 2
KEYone
Axon 8
Moto Z2 / Z2 Force / Z2 Play
P10 / P10 Plus / Mate 10
Honor 8 Pro / Honor 9
Damn all of them will represent another great leap, ONLY if one of them don't end up a mess, but so far, none of them is disappointing yet.
Going back, I'll buy this Note 7 for $300 when it goes down. A great phone ruined by atrocious battery problem.

The God of Flagships returns!! All hail the Note 7!!
I would gladly buy this over the S8!! Then get the Note 8 :-)
Somehow I doubt they will be released in Europe though and besides there was on 2 million which were recalled so not enough to go around. Still i think Sammy should offer them to all those customers who purchased them to give them first refusal, Now that would be serious customer care!
