Anonymous, 09 May 2017Sure if you 10%, 20%, and 30% meant huge to youPerformance improvement isn't just about speed, it's about power consumption too. 30% improvement in speed and 30% reduction in power consumption would make for a big total increase in performance.

"8 Kryo 260" cores are actually 4 A73 cores at 14nm and 4 A53 cores at 14nm. Because Qualcomm and their "great" product naming. I was also surprised after I read into their tech materials for the 660.

The "Kryo" moniker just makes things confusing, as they are not using their own cores, just generic ARM cores, and they are hiding the information which ones. It is even more hilarious that 8 "Kryo 260" cores are actually two clusters of four completely different cores. How come Qualcomm always failed at product naming? Their marketing department is probably the worst one I've seen out of any tech company. They consistently rename their product series every two or three years into something even more confusing than before :-D

All they care is desing, innovation and cpu performance. It is same with Desktop CPU. You dont care how much TDP has as long is #1. Xiaomi redmis are not their flagship phones.

Looks good. Both seem to be powerful enough and efficient too. It's nice to reach a point where even with mid-range phones, you don't feel like you are missing out on something. Now I just hope we don't have to wait till 2018 to see these new chipsets on available smartphones.

Sunil, 09 May 2017Like to see SD660 on Redmi Note 5They would chose SD630 for sure in the name of 'better battery life'. I don't understand this concept of giving low power chip set. Because by this logic, all flagships owners would have been crying out loud for not having good battery backup. Obviously, a fast phone would be demanding lesser SOT. This seems like a pure marketing strategy to me. Redmi 4 was bound to have SD 652/653 (going by previous model), until this gimmick came.

A72 is more comparable in single core performance to the big Kryo in 820. (Just go google Geekbench single core scores, and keep in mind 652 has ~15% lower clocks).
