AnonD-5127, 08 Apr 2011This graph is really misleading. Symbian and WP7 shown usin... moreThis is really early days. It was the "problems" with the Nokia N8 & Symbian ^3 that made me look elsewhere and the only phone i likes was the GALAXY II an android. I know nothing re Android just using SYMBIAN OS.
So having posted in the Galaxy II forum about the Nokia /Microsoft alliance (competition is good) this is why the graph is misleading.
Nokia could not tie up with ANDROID as Nokia the dominant player needed to control the release which may not be available for any of its phone launches
All Nokia have to do is to bring WP7 up to Symbian ^3 once that happens it is back on track.
The problems seem to be with Symbian NOT the hardware
Any major launch when that happens will put Nokia back on the map. (
I do not see Nokia playing catch up for the next 4 years
We have already seem the rise & rise of Android when Nokia had no concerns. Now all it has to do is "develop" an OS that is more flexible than Symbian was.
This is NOT going to delay my purchase of the Galaxy II but Nokia users will or may prefer to stay with Nokia and use an OS it knows if those are "duplicated" in WP7,
it is just that when you are so use to a particular system it is hard to change. JUST ONE SUCCESSFUL LAUNCH OF A NOKIA WP7 PRODUCT

AnonD-2815, 08 Apr 2011I dont trust these predictions.. Symbian phones sell like h... moreI'm thinking that older versions of android software will be used in lower spec phones in the future over symbian rather than just make them obselete. It makes sense to get people with cheaper phones onto the android marketplace to get them to buy things as the symbian marketplace sucks. I'm runing symbian and hate the market place =( High spec phones use the latest android and lower spec phones use older versions! Just my thoughts =D

Funny how this prediction didn't anticipate the arrival of Meego. I can accept the fact that Symbian will die, but I just cannot accept the idea that WMP will be the one overtake the 2nd place in term of OS distribution.

I dont trust these predictions.. Symbian phones sell like hot cakes in asian countries which has half of worlds population. These predictions are lame, just an marketing gimmicks for a specific OS or brand. It's impossible to replace symbian OS because it is cheap, reliable..funniest thing is nokia phones made to last longer.. They can survive minimum 4 years with heavy usage, nokia shipping 150 million smartphones next year how can be symbian disappear in next 3 years...?
