i'm not too excited about this... I'm still waiting for news about pr3.0. That would be a dramatic improvement of the OS

iOS doesn't have a widgets that updates you with new information. All you get is screen full of apps... Completely different from iOS.
iOS app arrangement has been around for at least a decade before iPhone was first manufactured. ANY OTHER OS's HAVE BEEN USING THE CHECKED ARRANGEMENT OF APPS. We don't say iOS copied it because we just accept the fact that it's the easiest way to arrange them for now. Apple fanboys saying that other OS's copy iOS just shows how stupid they are...
iOS got its popularity through minimalistic design. It was good when all other phones lagged because it tried to achieve beyond the basics, but now Apple stayed basic too long. The other OS's caught up to iOS's smoothness and they have much more features. There's no features in iPhone that exceeds ones from other OS's now. iOS is still stuck with same limitations they had since day 1.
New UI looks pretty decent, I should take back what I said about how Symbian is a dead OS. Though, I think it would be just good for keeping the existing customers around, not win some customers over Android.

Cant wait to see if Symbian^3 can match up to Android and Windows Phone 7 OS ;)
Hope Nokia comes good this time around or i fear the worst for the Co. in smart phone segment.

As long I can call and text with those kind of phones I'm okay with that. I don't need a flashy UI like Android's.

Nokia should not forget about the N97 and the S60v5 devices. They should improve something in our device somehow. At least the browser lol

ui is ok, ni noticeable change in the home screens. the keyboeard is pathetic.... cpuldn't nokia just allign the font at least? what is it a big effort????? used to be a nokia fan before, have a c7 and stuck with this crappy thing. can't even receive mails that easily....

Those if you saying nokia had copied ios are nuts. For his sale this is the standard nokia symbian user interface. The one symbian devices have been using since inception. The only thing changed us the icons. If this looks similar to ios then apple if the copycat.
And to gsmarena, this is not the much anticipated ui.this is pr 2.0. the ui overhaul would come with pr3.0

i wonder if they on copying android and i phone,i mean see,it has got almost same type of widgets and the classic ios menu layout.anyways,the phone is very good,but unfortunatly,late to the party as there are other better 8 megapixel snappers out there with better features.so good luck X7!

I love the X7 design.
If the browser is finally decent I have no problem choosing S3 over iOS and Android.

now announce new S^3 handsets and itroduce fulltouch S40 handsets as well for the midrange and just continue with the basic handset stuff and you'll be back in the game!!

I don't understand why Nokia would try to hype this new symbian and waste resources only for it to act like an early flavor of android.
They make great hardware, but they're wasted on crappy outdated OS trying to play catch up
