Anonymous, 20 May 2017ohh really? what are the innovation of oppo, and one plus, ... moreBefore you start insulting and making fun of me, let me get this straight. HTC brought nothing new in the world of smartphones after One M8 era.
Oppo gave us a very fast charger, the VOOC Fast Charger, and since OnePlus is under Oppo, the same charger is rebranded as Dash Charge while keeping the same charging speed rate.
Back at MWC 2017, Oppo showcased a proper 10x Optical Zoom (don't know how it works but it's stunning) that works much better than telephoto lens or digital zooming of all other smartphones.
Other than UltraPixel Camera, what else did HTC brought after the One M8 era?
I do know that HTC started the antenna line design that's found mostly on most smartphones, and they influenced almost all OEMs to opt for lower resolution in favor of bigger pixels, but what else?

All the comments about head phone Jack. You can use jacks, through USB. In fact on the latest U 11, it will be superior. You also get adaptor. HTC, have done some amazing things. If anyone watched the recent launch in its entirety, they would know what's going on. It was fantastic and quite informative actually. Congratulations HTC.

You guys had great and practical build quality, both in early days and of late, until now though. What the heck is going on by putting them glossy glass on the U Ultra and U11 phones? What happened to the real successor of the HTC 10?

If there are OEMs innovating today, they are quite a few:
-Samsung
-LG
-Sony
-Huawei
-Oppo / OnePlus
-Xiaomi
These are the only OEMs trying hard to do something new. Back then, HTC used to be unique, and now we're looking at them simply copying others and starting to remove features they're known to be the best. They no longer have a unique selling feature other than UltraPixel camera and very stock-ish software.

I am not a big fan of HTC. But I have to admit that they are one of the key innovators in Android space which others end up copying in the years to come. I am just listing down that comes on top of my head.
1. Industrial design with HTC ONE M7 (This is copied ad nauseum by all companies all over the world)
2. Ultra pixel camera with HTC ONE M7, to show the world that MP count does not make a better camera
3. Dual camera with HTC ONE M8
4. Boom sound speakers

Dual speakers. Now that was innovation. And then it was gone. Same goes for that squeeze gimmick. It's there. But it will be gone soon.

I'm sorry, HTC, but your innovation ended a few years ago. Now you're trying to be cool, but removing features that you almost perfected is not innovation...
