Apple will have longer end of the stick

Hope it will be for the best interest for consumer after all and this unite will come up with more innovative features under the collaboration of Nokia & Apple

It is actually good news. Apple has had a lean in for years and not paid due diligence whilst they are quite happy to sue themselves. Nokia have been asking fair payment for years. They deserve it, no question there. It is also good that people can now work together peacefully and respectfully. Consumers will be the winners. We could do with more of respect and working together across so many facets of industry right now. So be happy, chip chip away.

As far as i can say. Apple should never once protest against. I mean, come on, you use all the patents of a company that invested millions in Research and expect for them to be free cheap or what? And their comes this ignorant with "Nokia is greedy". The world is not a good place anymore.

AnonD-535480, 23 May 2017This was always the expected outcome. They had a patent li... moreNokia was once the only smartphone maker on the Planet witha lot of patents held via Symbian
Apple only came into the smartphone business in 2007 and freely used Nokias patented discoveries without paying a cent
Nokia sued Apple who would have lost and like you said Apple had to pay Nokia for every devices that ios ran on ( i guess then they decided on the txa shelter also)

After the Nokia climbdown Apple sued Samsung a couple of time
So like you said that deal is over.....
but side story Symbian is near impossible to code for touch screen phones http://www.gsmarena.com/glossary.php3?term=os
Nokia went to Microsoft for OS security

That relationship did not end well so whilst Microsoft is the bees knees for PC / and Laptop
It dissed Nokia and bad mouthed it at the end

So you can see the near flawless 6 upgrade that went into Windows 8
Windows 10 is dire, let me put it this way why would a company stop selling phones, after releasing a flaghip phone in dececember 2015 ,with specs that match the google pixel

Answers W10, I guess phone OS is not easy
My point is this hardball approach is neceesary, http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_files_new_patent_infringement_lawsuits_against_apple_in_the_us_and_europe-news-22297.php

This was always the expected outcome. They had a patent licencing deal previously that expired last year. As with any agreement, once one expires one party tries to get more out of the next one, but Apple wanted none of it. At the end of the day both parties decided to just extend/renew their previous agreement.
