oli, 23 May 2017i don't care what anybody says, Microsoft is straight geniu... moreI am using a Surface Pro and I love it, but this year nothing genius happened, as theres nothing new on it, its still the Surface Pro 4 in a slimmer case. Which is nice, I guess, but nowhere near what the SP4 brought to the table, for instance.

The naming is so well beyond horrible I cant believe they have a marketing department. Will next year's model be called surface pro 2?
Also, still no Thunderbolt. That and the fact that Kaby Lake is just a renamed Skylake makes this a redesigned Surface Pro 4.

With a laptop/tablet, users have more degree of freedom to use whatever service and software they want to use. Microsoft can make it more inconvenient to use other services, but then that might just stop people from buying the laptop.

I do not get the point why comparing this surface pro with an iPad. This is a computer, it does the jobs far beyond pad's range.

Bigger screen despite similar size/weight, twice the battery life, better resolution (if you buy the 1800p version), far better specs for less money, bottom heavy means easier to mwork on lap, proper keyboard. Many more ports
You probably never used a real ultra book. This is a toy by comparison. Only good thing is the ability to use pen if you're into (but most ain't). It's a niche product, I wonder why it gets so much spotlight. Too big and heavy for casual reading, too small for real work ... It's like ... Why?

Compared to an ultrabook this is nothing, a bad imitation of ultra books with less battery, worse keyboard, top heavy, fewer ports ... It's a throwback to early 2010s... Time for a change!

i don't care what anybody says, Microsoft is straight genius! For anyone who's owned or used a surface product, knows there's NOTHING like it on the market. No apple product can even come close when it comes to functionality. Other products have their benefits, but as an all rounder, nothing comes close to this.
Can't wait for Microsoft to step up their phones to the surface branding and take over the business sector.

They overprice everything on purpose and let the OEMs copy their ideas and sell at better prices. An OEM can release something similar but include usb-c for example. MS doesn't want to eat up their territory. OEMs make them way more money than they would on their own. THere has to be a balance. MS could price it cheaper but they won't.

compared to what an ipad can do at the same price..the pricing is alright but microsoft should really be looking into selling surfaces like they do with their consoles..selling high specs consoles at dirt cheap prices...and selling services at a premium ..its the same model with their office and windows os anyway...but the prblem is that even ms doesnt have enough confidence in their OS..each mainstream application that has an app is provided with a disclaimer that its functions are reduced, considering that surface is marketed as a tablet that can replace a pc, thats not how the market should be..

Microsoft makes nice ads. But seriously, do companies lack basic sense to name their products this way. Why don't they just stick to a numerical increment instead of naming it "new"? Don't they realize that "new" doesn't always stay new?
It's like Apple & their iPad naming scheme.
1) iPad
2) iPad 2
3) The new iPad (later referred to as the iPad 3, because calling it "the old new iPad" makes you look bad)
4) iPad with Retina display (later referred to as the iPad 4, because no one was smart enough to predict that later iPad's would also have a Retina display)
5) iPad Air
6) iPad Air 2
7) iPad Pro (Yeah, the same name for 2 sizes, because [insert random logic here])
8) iPad (Seriously, just iPad, no 2017, no iPad 7, not even "new iPad". Here we go again)

It is very sad that a big corporation like MS does not embrace the future and ackowledge the reality by not including USB-C with their latest surface. A big disappointment.

$800 for a Core m3, 4 gigs of RAM and 128 gigs of storage? Not to mention how NEITHER the keyboard nor pen are included, both $100 extra. If Microsoft doesn't want to compete with other OEM's, then I can easily say that they succeeded!

"Microsoft left out a USB-C connector or Thunderbolt in favor of its own proprietary Surface Connect" Hahahahaha, good one, Microsoft, even a 200$ notebook has a USB-C port and most ultrabooks/2-1s priced similar to "Surface Pro" have at least one TB3 port. Now I get where the "Surface Pro" is from, it has the same ports as the 2013 model! :)

Useless for those not caring about drawing on their computers.
You can get far better ultrabooks at the same price. And the ultrabook scheme (bottom heavy) is far more ergonomic for windows machines by far.
Time to retire this fad. It has outlived its purpose (discrediting the iPad).

i3 was changed to a m3 and the pen is sold separately now.
