The mysterious handset is still unidentified, but appears to run on a Snapdragon 835, meaning it is likely the eagerly-anticipated HMD flagship.

5.3 inch is small! 5.5/5.7 or 6inch with good body ratio is better. Hope that's not the case with Nokia 7.

GPUs are another matter, they indeed compete, but by 2020 I'd expect your GPU to be matched too (by some tetra GPU probably)

Enough with this BS. It's the one thing that the more you add the more general performance you get. It makes sense too, ram caching is huge to performance. Each time J ran a ramdisk on my PC the thing took flight.

People against it don't get how ram works (on everything apart from Windows apparently).

I'm still rocking an overclocked to 4Ghz Q9650 with 8GB of RAM and a GTX780 for video. It spanks any phone out there in 99% of tasks. And that's a 9 year-old CPU with a 4 year old GPU.... The only thing that it isn't good at is efficiency. The CPU alone consumes around 130 watts at full steam. GPU consumes around 350W. Can't really call it a mobile device LOL...

AnonD-643350, 26 May 20178 gigabytes of ram? Is it realy necessary? I mean I guess 4... moreAndroid is built to use as much ram as there is available. It preloads the most recent app and it's cached data into memory, so that the whole experience is much more responsive. So yes, the more the better, as long as we're not charged an arm and a leg for that.
That actually is true for quite a few OSs out there as well. Windows 10 tablet mode for example, will do the same. Linux based OSs also do the same thing, but much more conservatively.
I'd rather have too much ram, than a year after the phone is released, not enough ram...
Note 3 is a perfect example of that scenario. When it came out with 3GB of RAM (2.6 available), that seemed like alot, and it was flying on android 4.*. But, once it got updated to Android 5.0, all kind of lag issues began to appear. Checking the memory usage you could see that it is often using around 2.3GB. Now, if there's not enough ram for an app to launch, first the OS has to close the least used app, save it's state to the local storage, then launch the requested app and load it's cached data from the local storage into ram. And that's the primary source of lag right there.

8 gigabytes of ram? Is it realy necessary? I mean I guess 4 gigs of ram can perform well enough so is it some kind of show or there is a war coming so we have to hoard as much ram as we can?

Nokia seems to be able to deliver a great true flagship if the specs are true if the ram is 4 gb thats enough. If only the price is low they will definetly compete in the flagship game. Cant wait to see it alive. As blackberry did well in the world of android, nokia hasn't yet with its price of android smartphones!!! but this could!!!
