28 May 2017
The new trend of wider aspect ratio screens means that on-screen buttons no longer get in the way of 16:9 content.

I prefer on screen buttons on a standard 16:9 screen. Where is that option?
My Huawei Mate 9 has that, and a great fingerprint reader on the back. A reader on the front would be a thumbprint reader. Either that or you meg to be a contortionist.

Say no the hardware buttons! Uses space on the glass panel. This is why some phones are still stuck with huge bezels

backlit hardware button..always. better if other brand put 2-level shutter camera button like sony..

Poll almost feels like wish for sonar fingerprint to make it into new note. Not sure if it can change something...

Smartphones are all about using big screen to control device(and enjoy content) without having in hand pack of bezels, buttons and such. There is nothing more to say. Buttons like volume, camera, power-button,... everything can be replaced by sensitive areas, its example is U11 or tested microsoft phone(950/1030/other) that did not come. Besides the fact that phone lying on table(most ordinaly situation of its not in hand/pocket) is most simple to turn on by soft touch on screen with one finger, there is that simple thing - more moving physical objects in product means its more likely to wear down and fail to function or at least look good. Thats also one of reasons headphones go wireless. Such is future.

The curious case of buttons!!! :P

Anonymous, 28 May 2017I am 100% sure people didn't vote for "physical button" bec... moreI also didn't vote for hardware button, but idc about the phone in the picture (and I don't hate iPhones but their salty fans).
Simply because it's a thing of the past and it's time to get rid of them as virtual is the future.
Samsung already dropped their hardware keys on their flagships, and so will Apple.

I am 100% sure people didn't vote for "physical button" because it showed an iPhone and people hate iPhones. What a sad world to live in.

                  None.
-Xperia-like side-mounted fingerprint reader, the best possible place of it, along with Iris Scanner on the front (don't mind if it adds a little of top bezel).
-Capacitive hardware keys but no pressure sensitivity needed (makes response longer).
-Vibrating screen speaker with stereo sound (it's the future).
-Standard 16:9 ratio but smaller bezels and mostly, no curved edges (!!!!).

I don't see option for offscreen buttons. Only onscreen and i don't care, which is not close to offscreen.
